Wow, beyond impressive, dignity, sadness and the miracle of continuity. A small group keep prayer services, kosher dining room, and community services running!

The Synagogue is near the center of Miskolc. Many improvements have been made in the neighborhood over the last few years. The beautification of this area has been remarkable since 1989; fountains, gardens, new restaurants, and shops have further added to this community focal point

After visiting a few synagogues in Transylvania it came the opportunity to visit this one in Miskolc. Although today the Jewish community counts only 500 out of 10000 in 1920, the biggest disappointment was that the synagogue was closed to visitors.The bad news is that...More

Unfortunately the commies tore down the more beautiful Palóczy Street Synagogue around 1960, this one is an average temple, remarkable building though.
