One of the greatest place in hungary. The best season here is autumn, Bükk is beautiful with a hundreds of colour. Take a walk around the lake, drink a hot wine, go down a cave under the hill.

Just a stone’s throw away from the old and industrial Miskolc, you’ll find this hidden gem of little town with its castle hotel sitting by a lake and surrounded by forested hills and charming little town. We spent a day just wandering around the lake...More

It's a quiet area just on the outskirts of the city centre away from the buzz. Scenic neighbourhood enroute and the air clears and freshens up due to densifying vegetation towards Lillafüred. There isn't much one can do in the area, to be frank, but...More

Miskolc was very hot, no tourist information and not welcoming. It is an industrial town still carrying the Russian influence. We caught a tram and bus to Lillafured, about 15ks away and it was a green oasis. It was very pleasant exploring all the garden...More

We drove up from budapest in light rain. Passing through industrial miskolc isnt an attractive building up but it turned out to be in contrast to the surrounding area; beautiful forested hills and charming villages. The hotel sits at the outlet of a small lake...More

Wonderfully situated town near a lake. You can row on the lake, or fish, or have a beer or coffee in any of the small bistros.

Bukk National Park from Miskolc (6 Replies)
Hello: I would really appreaciate some recommendations and concrete, up to date information about the most interesting sights and things to do in Bukk / Bükk / Bukki National Park. I am planning to use Miskolc as a base, and not Szilvásvárad. Is Szilvásvárad worth a visit? Is it nicer over there than Lillafured and around? I would be very thankful about information about the forest train (where can I take it and what places it goes to) and what would be the most interesting walking trails...More

Public transport from Budapest to Palota Hotel in Lillafured (2 Replies)
I would like to visit or stay at the Palota Hotel for a night or two. However I do not have a car, how can I go there from Budapest by public transport? Once I am there, how can I move around? Are there public buses or is it easy to hire a taxi? Do you think I will be able to find to way since I don't speak Hungarian. Thanks!

Northeastern Hungary (9 Replies)
We will be leaving Lillafured and driving all the way to Ricse near the border where my greatgrandfather is buried. . Has anyone heard of this little village? Do you anything about it? Then we have 2 free days to Travel around Northeastern Hungary. Any ideas as to where to spend a few Gypsy nights? Great towns/ Villages...and hotels? I also heard about Holoku. Is it worth going to? I appreciate your thoughts!
