- Jackson93051,333 contributionsLovely Park and CaféThis is quite a lovely castle with grounds that you can walk around in at no charge. Stop at the cute café (sit outdoors if weather permits) and enjoy a coffee; the pastries are decorated in neon colors and weirdly tempting however I didn't try any. If you are a guest at the cafe the use of the WC is free; a waiter will open the turnstyle for you.Visited August 2020Written August 18, 2020
- OZS_ATWBudapest, Hungary3,104 contributionsA must to see!The Festetics Castle is an absolute must to see in Keszthely. It is one of my favorite castles in Hungary. It is very well maintained. It is a must for history loving people. Visiting the garden is free of charge.Visited August 2020Written September 4, 2020
- Sonja SOmis, Croatia53 contributionsHuge and beautifulSo, we went to see the castle. Bought the ticket for whole exhibition. Thinking we will see things in castle, and that's it. 4 hours later, i can't walk anymore, and we still have things to see 😊 it is huge, includes more than one museum, you can see how people lived before, how they traveled, there is part with plants and animals, models of railway, castle library...my god...it is beautiful! Well done Keszthely!Visited January 2019Traveled as a coupleWritten January 19, 2019
- Richard254Hebden Bridge, United Kingdom260 contributionsNeeds an imaginative curator.Lovely building in nice gardens. Pleasant stroll around the curated rooms, but it could have been made much more interesting with a more insightful and engaging written commentary. Why did Mary Hamilton marry him? How did they meet? Did they share a common language? Why did she live in her own part of the palace? Were they estranged from mainstream aristocratic life? Why did the more recent chatelaine leave in 1940? Where did she go to? Did the master of the library actually read all those books? Why were they bound in matching covers? Why couldn’t the visit include the bedrooms, kitchens etc? How did the servants live? It was an OK visit; we were pleased to have seen some of the palace, but the visit was dull. With more imaginative curation it could be so much better.Visited May 2022Traveled as a coupleWritten May 1, 2022

- BabelTravelerParndorf, Austria42 contributionsShort visit on bicycleWe were cycling around, so we decided to have short look just from outside. Area is accesible freele, even with bicycles, nice outer and inner yard and gardens. Nice place for short stop, in bad weather could be good for longer visit of interriors. Just skip the castle coffeshop, we had a bad experience with slow service, low quality and overpriced coffee.Visited October 2019Written October 23, 2019

This palace is set in well tended grounds and well worth a visit when visiting Keszetheley. It is free to explore the grounds but there is a fee for seeing the interior of the castle. There is a cafe serving beverages and cake and toilets (have to pay) within the castle.

A Baroque palace in lovely grounds . Beautifully restored and provides information in a number of languages including English. Not expensive to visit compared to British sites.
