Visited on Monday 9th October. We stopped off in Gyor for a break and to stretch our legs. We went for a wonder around and were amazed to see such a magnificent building here. Above the bay window of the Baroque building can be seen the coat of arms of Gyor. You won't be disappointed if you stop to have a look.

Symbol of the city, the Town Hall of Gyor was built in the 19th Century in the Neo-Baroque style. The view of the impressive building with its central tower is excellent from the main square. Open for visits only on Tuesday from 10am-2pm, you must preregistration at the Gyor Visitor's Center for a place on a tour. A separate prior approval to climb the tower is necessary and a waiver of liability must be signed. Sadly while we visited Gyor on a Tuesday, we arrived in town at 2:30 and missed the opportunity to visit the interior of the Town Hall.

A really beautiful building overlooking a charming square where there are some amazing fountains with frequently changing water patterns.

A very impressive town hall, walked past it many times in my many stays in the city. Best photographed at night.

We had not heard of Gyor before visiting as part of a cycling tour of the Danube, but we shall certainly try to visit again. It has wealth of old building, churches and picturesque streets. There are many very good eating places and the people are very friendly, most speak English amazingly well...only wish we could speak Hungarian as fluently. There are pedestrianised areas in the middle of the town, and plenty of cycle paths too. There is a great Spa type swimming bath, and lovely gardens and parks to walk through. Although we only had two days here we shall return.

This is an absolutely gorgeous old building that functions as the town hall. It faces a lovely park with playful fountains.

Impressive and beautifully maintained town hall building on the way from the train station to the old town.
You can tell that Hungary has a prosperous past if you see this building.

I went in that building thought it was a Birth Death and Registry. The man told us that this was not the building. It has beautiful interior. But wasn't allowed in only the main entrance area

A large well designed building from the late C18th, backing onto the railway station. Unfortunately, it faces north, so rarely gets the sun on the facade, so all photos will be a bit dark. One of the few impressive buildings not in the centre of the town.

A fine baroque building that was built to impress by a country that was confident of its imperial power.
