Nice square
Jun 2020
Nice square, a meeting point for locals but you would spend here more than 10 minutes only in case there are some concerts or similar attractions.

Picturesque square at the heart of Eger
Sep 2019
Dobó Square is a pedestrian plaza at the center of Eger. It is named for István Dobó, the military commander who successfully defended the town from the Ottoman siege of 1552. At the north end of the square is a large bronze statue honoring Dobó. The square was recently renovated, and a square fountain added at its southern end. The Baroque Minorite Church dominates the eastern side of the square, with the city hall to the right of the church. Medieval-looking buildings with shops, restaurants, cafes and a market surround Dobó Square, while its north side overlooks the Eger-Patak river and the castle ramparts beyond. The square nicely lit at night, and is accessible at all times without an entry fee.

Know the history before you go- it's worth it!
Oct 2019
Housing a very large statue of their hero, Istvan Dobo, the square in Eger is as relaxing as it is beautiful. It seems to be that this is where everyone ends up. They meet with friends, take selfies, let the kids run around, have a coffee or a meal, or just have a seat to relax.
Be sure to read about Dobo's history.

Where heroes once stood
Sep 2019
Although the look of this square is probably very different from the way it looked when the tragic history of Hungary was made here, the place still has an aura that makes you pause. It has not been ruined by commercial venues like most tourist attractions but rather crowned by a renovated statue of its namesake. A few restaurants with outdoor seating makes it possible to sit back and breath in history.

Lovely place to visit
Aug 2019
One of my favourite places ever. We have seen the changes over many years. We love to just sit on one of the seats in the square with an ice cream watching the world go by. The Town Hall is a beautiful building as are the statues in the square and you can also see part of the Castle as well. Surrounded by restaurants, cafes and shops it is also a great area to meet up with friends for something to eat and drink. Children love the water fountains which look so inviting on hot summer days......Looking forward to returning August 2020.
