Great Market - visit on a weekend morning
Dec 2019 • Family
Commonly known as the ‘Zsib Vásár’ - We visited here in the summer eight years ago and loved it. All the world was there and amazing deals were to be had.

This Christmas we visited twice because the first was a rainy weekday and it was only sparsely occupied by vendors. Our second visit was on a more active clear Friday morning.

I suspect as Debrecen grows and becomes increasingly well-served by new stores with competitive prices, this outdoor market may decrease in importance. It hails from an era when a lot less variety and value was available to Debreceni residents. In my perception this is an authentic city market not focussed upon tourists. A tourist may be disappointed seeing vendors selling faucets, underwear and work clothing - but these would be of interest to a local. It’s gritty, messy and odd. But it’s fun and if you search enough you will find your heart’s desire.

You can find amazing deals on many useful and interesting things.

Love this market
Jul 2019 • Family
This is a large indoor farmers market close to the main square in Debrecen that is open all week and Saturday. I wish I could live here just to be able to buy the wonderfully fresh local produce. The smells of the veggies and fruits already entice one to try the many varieties of offerings. Along the perimeters are the butchers, bakeries and the middle isles are the veggies and fruits. I bought handmade eggs pasta, fresh eggs, home made cottage cheese with sour cream , again home made....and the local plums in season were fantastic. The prices are unbeatable too. Just remember to take a shopping bag since they will not put the food in shopping bags.

Neat and organised

Small local market- well set up in neat rows...fruit and vegetables at a good price, Meat upstairs. Apparently it's much better on a Saturday as there's more happening then.

is located in the heart of the city, not where you pointed out on the site. right next to the mall. it's a lovely place with plenty of meat and stuff that smells and looks amazing.

Boring and filled with nonsense
Aug 2016 • Couples
This flea market was very disappointing as its not big at all (we spent there 15 mins max) and its filled with pointless stuff like old plugs, old hair driers, millions of tools etc. If you think to go there and find some COOL vintage stuff (as we did) you'll be disappointed too.

I would advise to visit this market only if you need some cheap fruit, pants, screw driver or a stolen bicycle.

If you still want to go, you can get there by bus 15 or 15Y.

Local flea market
Jul 2015 • Friends
As every bigger town, Debrecen has also it's flea market/ bazaar, called by locals just Zsibi (ʒibi). You can get there by bus 15,15Y or 30 or a 30min walk from the main square (Kossuth tér).
You can find here all kind of stuff: from used bikes to vintage furniture, clothes, books etc. Walk around and get a sausage (Kolbász) or Lángos with some hot tea at one of the food stalls.
The market opens everyday at 7:00 am, but go there on the weekend, so you can see the most.
