Lovely well designed building on the outside but disappointing on the inside architecturally!
We went up the tower to see the bell tower which was very difficult to negotiate as wooden ladders were very steep and narrow.
I did enjoy the view from the top though!

Debrecen is such a beautiful city:) It is a city that you can feel peaceful in it. And great church looks amazing. It’s in the center of Debrecen and kind of a meeting point with people.

We spent an excellent hour touring this church and climbing to the top of the bell tower. The view is not to be missed and the reformed church is a nice contrast to the many highly decorated Catholic churches in the region. It's simply is elegant in its own way.

It is an impressing, even unique church for a Calvinist one - large, beautiful classical style exterior. Inside it is simple; no ornaments just as expected from a Calvinist church. Still you can feel some simple clear beauty, a sort of rural spiritual emanation. It is the most significant Calvinist church in Hungary - the symbol of Debrecen, the city that was known as the "Calvinist Rome" for centuries. It is very important for profane history as well - the dethronisation of the Habsburgs was declared here during the liberty war of 1848-49.

Beautiful church. If you want a wonderful view of Debrecen go to the top of the towers. There is a lift if you feel you cannot climb the narrow, steep stairs Just be aware of the steepness and low beams in certain sections. It was well worth the climb. The view was spectacular.

Didn’t go in but walked by it numerous times. Very impressive building in the heart of the city overlooking market street with its bars and restaurants.

A lovely lady at the entrance gave us a map and we paid our entrance fee. The view from the bell towers are lovely, a steep climb though, although there is a lift to the half way point.

The Great Church dominating the square is impressive outside, but it isn't really worth going inside for the fee. It is a Reformist Church which means it is plain and doesn't have the opulence and art of the great Catholic Churches. It was fun climbing to the top and seeing the underside of the dome but suspect I accidentally got there by going up the wrong stairs. The exhibitions were in the main evangelical rather than historical. It creates part of the city ambiance and worth enjoying from a café in the square, while the trams rattle past.

At Debrecen's city center, very easy to find. The museum holds about 25 maquettes and 56 paintings showing various scenes in the bible. You can climb and see former ruins of the building and also go to the very top where you can see the city from there. Dont remember how much i paid, but t was quite cheap. Its a place worth killing time. 1 hour is enough
