A useful resource for travellers who need to keep up with their fitness routine whilst in central Budapest. Especially as the venue offers day passes without needing a membership, plus the option to buy blocks of 8 visits if you intent to have a longer stay.

Prices: 1990FT for a day (approx. £4.50 as at Jan ’16), 9990FT for a block of 8 sessions (approx. £24)
Opening hours: Monday to Thursday 0630-2300, Friday 0630-2200, Saturday and Sunday 1000-2000.

I regularly visit this gym when I am in Bud on trips, and use the free wi-fi to hook up with my trainer back in the UK. It’s in a great location in central Budapest, just a few blocks down from Anker’t ruin bar, and a short walk from the M1 at Opera.

As there is no pool, it’s probably more of a ‘work-out’ gym featuring a well equipped cardio area and weights area. There is also a sauna to relax in after your session.

Equipment wise, the range of cardio consists of several (I counted around 6) treadmills, plus cross trainers and steppers.

The weights area is really well equipped with quite a few benches and more than enough free weights (dumb-bells) to go round. If you prefer to use assisted weights machines there is a good selection of these too including lat pull-down, press, leg-press, fly, adjustable wire-based tension kit and many more. There is a smith machine for heavier squats and, again, plenty of weight discs to make use of.

The staff are very friendly and welcoming; something worth adding if you might feel a little apprehensive about visiting a gym in a foreign country and speak English.

The clientele is mixed age range, and also seem to be a friendly bunch. It’s worth adding that on some blogs the venue is listed at “gay friendly”, which probably makes zero difference to many, but it does mean the atmosphere is very inclusive and welcoming; again, something to ease apprehension for a travel-gymmer.

Cool thing: There is a selection of sugar free cordials and juices available free of charge whilst you work out, plus a preparation station to mix your shakes if you need it.

Tip: The changing room lockers use a padlock to secure your belongings. You can take your own padlock (but who has one of them whilst travelling?)… so just leave suitable ID at reception and you can borrow a padlock (I use my EU medical card as a safer ID to use).

Additional tip: It’s customary to take a small workout towel to put on the leather benches when you use them (I just take the hand towel from my hotel).

Conclusion: Clean, friendly and convenient location for cardio and weights sessions whilst in Budapest.

If staying in or near the Jewish Quarter, get a $7 (2000 HUF) day pass for this small but clean and well equipped gym (not far from the Great Synagogue).

Bring cash, unless you have a credit card that works off the Euro.
(My Visa from the USA did not work.)

Also, be familiar with Kilos vs lbs. (The dumbbells are in Kilos.)

You get a locker with lock for your valuables and clothes.

And they have a smoothie station - which I did not have, but looked fresh and inexpensive.

I've been going here twice in my five day stay in budapest. It's around 2k forints for 1 day or 10k for 8 days. They have the usual machines, not much for leg exersizes though. Dumbbels go up to 40kgs and there arent enough plates for squat/bench. They have a small, well set up place with good atmosfere.

I was planning on using this gym but couldn't as it didn't have a squat rack or place to deadlift.. two of the best exercises you can do and you are unable to do them at this "gym", ridiculous!
