About
Personal photography tours in Budapest organised by a local landscape photographer. I guide you to great photo spots at the best time. And I show you how to set your camera properly to achieve professional results. The tours usually start around sunset, so we can get to the spots by the time "Blue Hour" begins. Then we continue taking pictures at night using a tripod. Don't worry if you don't have one, you can use mine :)

Miklos is very friendly, patient, affable, and speaks very good English. So, our tour was awesome! We started with the food tour and then moved directly into the evening photo tour. Since I had the newest model of a Sony, we both discovered a few interesting features about the camera that evening. The stops we made on the tour certainly set me up for some great shots.
Miklos also saved the day when my tripod mount decided it wanted to bounce into the Danube for eternity. When that happened, he loaned me his "L" bracket. Everything worked out splendidly and thankfully, Miklos was well prepared beyond just having places to visit. Given the tour was a few days before Christmas and it was a bit chilly outside (an understatement) having him along to show the way was not only a blessing, it was crucial. I am beyond pleased with the photos too. Here's the thing though, even if someone is not a photographer with a great camera, I still would recommend Miklos as a tour guide. Even my iPhone pics that I snapped along the way came out wonderfully.
If someone would ask me today if they should take the tour with Miklos in Budapest, I would simply reply, "If he's available and you don't us him as a guide, you're nuts!" We wholeheartedly recommend Miklos in Hungary.

Amazing time in Budapest
In August I was lucky enough to be able to spend time in Budapest as it such a great time to be in this beautiful city, on this occasion I was also able to book a photo tour with Mikolos around all the key sites taking night time photos. He is a very friendly, knowledgeable local guide on Budapest, photography and how to make the best use of your time in the city. I was able to take some amazing photos of the Citadel and around Fisherman's Bastion and also around the Pest. If you like photography and in the city I would highly recommend a tour with Miklos

No trip to Budapest would be complete until you see it through a photographer eye
Miklos Mayer’s was just the professional to guide through the best night time photos of the city.
His command of the English language coupled with patience make our evening even more enjoyable.
He told of the history of his country which showed in his photos and even I liked my photo shoot.
I highly recommend from beginner to national geo quality, we all can learn something from Mr Mayer.
Well worth the money.
He took my USD too helped me.
Thank you Miklos and the best of prosperity in you business

My wife and I loved our time photographing Budapest at night guided by Miklos Mayer. He took us to perfect vantage points from which to view and shoot iconic buildings and views of the city and made suggestions that saved us time and effort. He was very helpful and was prepared with extra batteries and tripod, in case one of ours failed. He was knowledgable and informative about the city, and we enjoyed spending the time with him discussing his home and our common love of photography. He followed up with a souvenir photo of all of us and offered helpful advice on editing the night photos. It was a lovely and memorable evening. Highly recommend.

Miklós Mayer really knows night photography and is an excellent trainer - and on top of that he's a super friendly person. He knows all the right places and how to get the best photos of them. We were sad that we couldn't arrange to do more evenings with him during this trip. For sure anytime we get to Budapest we're going to look him up.
The Chain Bridge was under construction and the lights were out. That was just an unfortunate circumstance. It had been under construction for more than a year, and they planned to open it up the month after we were there. Just our luck.
My wife and I live in the US and were beginning a river cruise in Budapest. We'd booked Miklós over the internet based on what we saw on his website and also the reviews others had written. Our plan was to get there 2 days before the cruise began so we could do some sightseeing on our own. Our flight to Budapest was cancelled and we ended up going on a later flight that left us with one day before the cruise. We had booked Miklos for the first night we'd be there, but had to change the timing. He was flexible and made it work for our revised schedule. We had an absolutely wonderful time seeing what few tourists see in Budapest - the beautiful city by night from the places most advantageous to photography. I'm blown away by the really nice pictures I got with his help, and have to say I not only learned a lot but we had a great amount of fun. To top it off, we got to go eat at his favorite langos restaurant afterwards.

I am very new to photography and have a camera that has way more features than I am experienced/knowledgeable at using. However, I do travel plenty and love to take advantage to develop my photography skills whenever I can. Miklós definitely was the perfect fit for what I was looking for in a photography tour guide in Budapest. He also made sure that my (non-photographer) partner enjoyed himself as well by discussing history and culture in Hungary.
We started with the food tour, which you should definitely do! We had eaten at several restaurants during our trip but had not been to the places Miklós took us. Then we set out on the photography tour. Miklós was also kind enough to lend me the use of his tripod, as my suitcase did not have enough room to pack one. It was a very cold evening, so we did a mix of walking and taking taxis. I am very glad Miklós arranged these, as I had heard stories of unethical cab drivers in Budapest, so it was good to not have to worry about that. Miklós was really patient with me, showing me features on my camera that I did not even know it had... definitely making my future endeavors with this camera much easier. He also knew the best spots to take photos.
Lastly, weather was really variable the week we visited, and Miklós was really helpful and gave options of different days to reschedule when the day we had originally planned on turned out to be foggy/rainy. My partner and I had built in an extra day in case anything needed to be rescheduled, so we were able to move things around and make our photography/food tour for another day.
We are already planning another trip to Budapest in a couple years and will definitely reach out to Miklós for another tour. We had a wonderful time and he made everything fun and easy.

We had such a great tour with Miklos! When we travel, I tend to look for photography tours as locals tend to know the very best spots to get the best photos - Miklos certainly delivered. The photos we took were incredible and Miklos was a fantastic guide. He knew the best spots (at the best times) to visit and had great technical knowledge as well. He shared some great tips and tricks that were helpful to both me (a more experienced recreational photographer) and my son (very much a beginner). Miklos is very personable and engaging and shared some great city knowledge with us as well (which made the excursion interesting for my husband who was not actively taking photos). We had a great time and I would highly recommend this tour. It is one of the best photo tours we have been on and certainly the best night photo tours we have done.

As an amateur photographer, this was a great way to spend an evening in Budapest. Miklos corresponded with me for setting it up, including gear, well before I traveled. On the day, his associate, Tamás, guided me to some of the best spots for photographing the city at the golden and blue hours. He helped me with composition and other technical details. We went to multiple locations over 3 hours, but it was not rushed at all. Both Miklos and Tamás were patient and generous with their advice. Ending at the Parliament building view all lit up was fantastic.

This was a great tour with visits to sites that I would never have found on my own. Miklós Mayer was patient and made sure his clients were getting excellent photos with camera settings appropriate to lighting conditions. Suggestions also were offered for photo composition. This particular tour group included one other photographer, which reduced cost slightly.
I was totally satisfied with the quality of the photos and greatly appreciate a link to a post-processing tutorial to assist in rendering the best photos possible. His contact information has been shared with several colleagues who plan to visit Budapest in the near future.

Hello, how are you? My wife and I will be going to Budapest between November 27th and 30th. We are a traveling couple and we want to make the most of our stay in the city to take many pictures for our social media. Do you just take the tour teaching the settings, or take the pictures? We always travel alone. So our photos are the ones we took! @sthaelecarlinhaporai
