The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.

This was a different kind of trip as it's apparently good luck to touch the horses golden balls , hard to get up to the horse due to slippery stone but was a giggle.

It seems that every street you walk down you will come across another statue, this is a fine one, and stands in a very pretty Buda street.

This statue is located at the Buda Castle, Buda side of Budapest. There are a number of sculptures in and around the Buda Castle and the intricacies of each statue is truly a work of art. This statue of Andras Hadik was erected in 1937 and was governor of Bukovina. According to folklore you are to rub certain parts of the anatomy of the horse for good luck.

Situated in the classiest part of Buda, just round the corner from the fab Pest Buda bistro, it’s worth a visit if only to attempt the tricky, but far from impossible, fear of reaching the shiny part of the statue.

Highly recommended and great for embarrassing your teenage children!

We had lunch nearby and couldn't work out why so many people were jumping up to smack the horse in the whojemaflips..... so we gave it a google and hey presto, we were next to old golden balls himself so as he left I jumped up and gave his balls a good rub. I do wonder what he'd have made of it all, but neither the horse nor Andras looked too upset about it. Not sure how long I have to wait for the good luck to reach me?

With the abundance of statues in Budapest, this is yet another statue of a person on horseback. It is located in a side street away from the flow of traffic. Unless you happen to be passing by, you really have to make an effort to see it, but it is really not worth your time.

The statue of the Mounted Andras Hadik isn't as special, but what makes it special is that literally grabbing the horse, pardon me, for it's balls will as they say bring you luck

It's a life size statue and it's easy to view from all angles. It's got a blue color now and it's worth checking out. I liked the flowers nearby too.
