We were surprised to find the statue of detective Colombo, played by Peter Falk with his dog in Budapest. I loved this series and recognized him right away, the statue perfectly conveys the character and famous Colombo smile. Peter Falk has Hungarian roots, maybe that's why his statue was installed there.

At the time of writing this statue of lieutenant Columbo and his dog is Trip Advisor’s 41st best thing to do in Budapest. 41st?? Come on, Trip Advisor. COME ON. It should be Trip Advisor’s NUMBER ONE thing to do in Budapest. It’s a statue of Columbo for heavens sake, the greatest detective ever. What else around here could possibly be better? Thermal spas? Ruin bars? Parliament buildings? *spits* PAH! I’d rather watch a video of paint drying in slow motion. I’ve come to Budapest on my stag do and have so far spent the entire day at the Columbo statue and I’m having the time of my life. My friends can’t drag me away. I’m posting this review from the statue. I might miss my flight later, who cares? I might just decide to live here. Come say hi.

It's a statue of the disheveled detective Columbo and his Dog, "Dog", erected for a vague reason and just sitting there on a Hungarian pavement. What's not to love? See if you can spot the tiny armed interloper lying nearby him on the ground. I'm a huge Columbo fan, so this was a must-see.

I was a little more excited than I should have been to unexpectedly stumble across a statue of Columbo - and Dog - plonked in the middle of the pavement. The Columbo statue depicts the legendary lieutenant resplendent in trademark trenchcoat, scratching his head with cigar in hand. Classic.

It was nice to randomly stumble across Peter Falk whilst exploring the streets, worth checking out the statue on Wikipedia and paying a visit if you enjoyed Colombo back in the day!

If you are planning on visiting the Parliament building you will only be a short walk from Columbo’s Statue.

Take Falk Miksa u heading towards Margaret Island and at the junction of the main road you will find Columbo himself.

Oh, and “just one more thing” after your visit if you head towards the bridge you will find yourself on the river bank and a fairly short walk (about ½ mile) back past the Parliament building and you will arrive at the Shoes on the Danube.

The statue is a good photo opportunity for Columbo fans. I love the nearby streets, full of antique shops, ice cream stands, restaurants, and shade on hot days. Go to Kiskakukk for lunch

Unexpected statue on the nagy kőrút. Columbo with his dog. Standing there with his cigar and scratching his head, well done!

Installed in 2014 at an estimated cost of $63,000, the bronze P.I. was part of an overall rejuvenation project in the area, although exactly why the figure was chosen is a bit of a mystery. According to organizers, actor Peter Falk may have been related to the 19th-century Hungarian political figure, Miksa Falk, after whom the street is named, although they also admit that this connection has yet to be proven. The American Falk is known to have had Hungarian roots on one side of his family, although it has never been linked to Miksa Falk’s family. Some have also questioned the timing of the statue’s installation given that Peter Falk passed away in 2011, meaning that it is unlikely to commemorate his passing either.

Was very surprised to stumble upon this wonderful statue. Quite random, but the likeness is uncanny and the dog is very sweet.
