This place is located in a living neighborhood in the Buda side of Budapest. That was the reason why the activity of the Foundry was closed back in 1964. Too good the place was not bulldozered to make place to more block of flats but resisted and was later nicely restaurated. Even better, the last day of work at that foundry was kept on film and the documentary made out of this is projected to visitors, so during the visit you can easily identify each place filmed and imagine how the place was in a regular working day.
Everything from the past factory is still in place together with cast iron and alloy pieces of manufacture done there, from older - canons and church bells - to modern ones, like lorry engines, crankshafts, locomotive wheels and so.
Every piece exposed there has a presentation both in Hungarian and English - which is excellent - and the personnel can offer information in good English.
A bit cold inside in November - almost outside air temperature - which shorten our visit being with the kids.
It was good to have an interactive side - most of the tools and machinery being still functional - but we understood the reasons of safety. Overall a very interesting and instructive place to visit.
