What a view. From the parking area it takes a nice short walk to get to the viewpoint. Great fun with kids too.

This peak at 495 meters is 30 meters below the highest point of Budapest.
It's a point of nature without many people and many things to do.

There seemed to be a destroyed and left-to-rot bunker complex on the top, a new modern viewpoint and Hangar bistro.

I believe only a small percentage of Budapest people ever make it up here even though it's part of the kék túra / blue trail: the most popular hiking trail through whole Hungary.

I recommend it for those who live in Budapest or those who really want to get away...

We visited the Guckler Karoly Lookout Point at Harmashatarhegy, which is 495 meters above see level.
The view of Budapest is fine but the surrounding area is a Post Soviet movie scene.

A place for coach trips to listen to excellent Hungarian music and see some dancers, but will cater to individuals. Food less than good, suspected chicken soup out of a packet etc. House wine not good at all. Music was really good, though, and felt sorry for the musicians playing to unresponsive elderly tourists. Staff friendly.

If you would like to get to know the nature near a big city, you have to visit Hármashatárhegy. There are walking/hiking/running trails in the forrest.
There are 2 lookout towers on the hill: Árpád tower in the forrest and a brand new tower on the top of the hill from where you can have a beautiful view of Budapest.
You can go by car or take bus 65 from Kolosy tér to Fenyőgyöngye.
You can check the trails on online maps or any paper based map of the Buda hills available in book stores.

Place with great potential poorly maintained, reminder of communist times broken asphalt roads and drab concrete structures everywhere, balkan atmposphere from the 80-ies shameful conditions, calls for large investment
