Address
Neighborhood: District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.

Three of us (an adult, a 16-yo, and a 14-yo) visited the Alchemist room at Gozsdu Mission, downtown Budapest. We're seasoned escapees, but we found this room quite a challenge despite the 90-minute allotted time. Fortunately, the staff were very generous with hints, and we did eventually escape. The puzzles were very well thought out and varied. We had to adapt our strategies over and over. I would recommend to smaller groups that they start asking for hints sooner rather than later. We waited 30 minutes but should've probably started after 15 minutes to be less rushed toward the end. We still had a lot of fun.

We completed both White Room (as a 4 player team) and Prison Mission (as a 2 player team). We are experienced at having played many escape rooms and thoroughly enjoyed our time at Gozsdu Mission. The White room was an interesting concept (although would have had more 'Wow' impact if the door to the room had been closed when we first arrived - getting a look into the room from the lobby slightly spoilt the initial impact!). Prison Mission was simpler than White Room and I was glad we only did this as a 2 player team as it was a linear room, but it had some very good multi-layered puzzles. I would definitely recommend playing at Gozsdu Mission!

Had a lot od fun in the white room. The room is really cool and inovative. There were 6 of us and we played 6 rooms in 2 days we were in Budapest and most of the group said this one was their favourite. The puzzles were really inovative and unlike others we've seen.

We both have been doing at least 30 rooms together in the past years and are pretty decent at it. When i spotted the white room and saw all the nice comments about it i wanted to try it.
Our biggest problem was that we wanted to play in English, we booked to play in English, andddd...the game master barely spoke English. Just basics, not enough to explain the game properly, and we had trouble understanding when we were asking questions, so did she to understand us it seemed. So we missed a few things that an experienced/good English speaker would have pointed at us, we couldn't do some things even with the explanations because we didn't understand them well, and the game itself was not that well done for us (but maybe we're biased because of the things we didn't understand) so yeah, big deception, one of our biggest deceptions in all the rooms we've played, honestly they should just have warned us no one speaking English properly was available... Wish we could get our money back it was not fun at all. The host offered us to play longer but what was the point if still no clear hints and co?

Did both room at the same time with a team of 10. Both teams managed to escape, but worked hard. Really enjoyed the games. They are well organized, challenging, and still contain some surprizes.
It is in the middle of bars and pubs, so we spent a great time there.

Been here and chose the prison break based on Ocean Eleven. Quite difficult and full of challenging quests, it took us longer and had to ask for some tips before sorting it out. It was a challenging hour which we both enjoyed. One minor downturn- quiet costly at 5000 HUF each in Budapest.

6 of us just did the White Room and it was sooooo fun. 2 of our group have never been to an escape room and they both loved it. It's really good for both English and hungarian speakers. The lady who helped us was brilliant and so lovely! One of the best escape rooms I've ever tried, will be back to try the rest!

We played the White Mission. Even though it seems an innovative idea, it is a collection of dull paper puzzles that one can easily find on the net having to do with maths, iq tests etc. What I mean is that they have nothing to do with a stroryline, with a theme. They are just incoherent puzzles scattered around the room. The game master totally flat and as usually, due to employers saving money, must have been the only employee there dealing with all the escape rooms simultaneously. So, there were a lot of time lapses when asking for help. It was like a receptionist being outside for a little. As to me, not recommended.

I went back in April with my friends while we stayed at Budapest. We like escape games a lot, so we thought why not give it a try! The Alchemist was a well designed, thoughtful room. I can’t deny it, it was quite hard, but with a group of four, we managed to escape almost! in time.
