Let's be honest. In Budapest there are way too many tourism options to sift through. How do you decide which one to take? Well, we like to think our options are a little different than the rest. We're a couple of local girls with local sentiments...more

We visited Budapest in early December and decided the best way to get out bearings would be a city tour. We opted for the 'Budapest Delights' tour which had the added bonus of introducing us to the local cuisine. We met Barbi in the morning...More

Hi Joanne, renting an apartment or studio in Germany is not as easy as it is in UK. It is all done on an 'official' footing and it becomes quite complicated if you are just visiting unless you can pay a significant deposit and rental in advance. There are many small hotels or 'Gasthauses' that will let you a room long-term at a reduced rate, some have a kitchenette etc. Local knowledge is essential here, mine is from the Frankfurt area. The cost of living compares favourably with UK, I...More
Looking for a great private Alhambra guide - 2 fams w/teens (0 Replies)
Hello TA community - I am traveling with my family (3 teen/pre-teen kids) and another family (also 2 teens) in July. We are staying in a Puerto Banus villa and planning our day trips. I am looking for a wonderful (funny, informative, flexible) private guide who can procure Alhambra tickets and give our families a private tour. We don't want to join a group because we know it will take awhile to drive there from our villa and we want to maximize our time and really enjoy it. I found the...More

Visiting Dresden with a Senior. (2 Replies)
Hello all, I promise I am not 'spamming' the forum, but I have a similar question for Dresden, to one I have just asked on the Berlin Forum: Hope to bring the Aged P on a road trip to Germany this year, and would like to spend some time in Dresden as a part of that. Don't have a specific budget in mind at present, kind of depends what is suggested (sorry to be vague, I know that drives people nuts!!). He can walk but gets out of breath very easily now, so would like to find an Hotel that...More

Most hotels near the main tourist sights are quite expensive. If you want a pool you should look into the Radisson Blu Gewandhaus Hotel - but it's 5star, so pricey. VERY good choice, though. Other options with pool are Hilton (but don't like it) and the Kempinski Taschenbergpalais (highly recommended, but even more expensive than the Gewandhaus. A little less expensive should be the new NH Am Altmarkt - no pool there, though. Recently the Express Holiday Inn opened - mid-priced, no pool of...More
