About
Visiting Hungarian wineries is a special experience. Winemakers take the time to personally welcome you at their tables (as opposed to pouring wine from behind a bar), pouring generous glasses of wine as they reveal the details of their wines, terroirs, and personal histories. At our Tasting Table we hope to recreate this quintessential Hungarian wine experience in the city. Come sit at our table and discover delicious Hungarian wines, and the stories behind them. During the day guests can pop in to buy wine (and drink glasses and flights along with cheese and charcuterie boards), under the guidance of our sommelier. We place a strong focus on educating our guests about Hungarian and Central European wine and food culture, and the evenings are reserved for our wine tasting classes, events, and private functions. Our wine is always paired with lots of insight into Hungarian winemaking. Located in the atmospheric cellar of a 19th-century palace, the Tasting Table is a hybrid wine shop / tasting room / event space / education center. As a shop, our focus is on Central European grape varietals and specialties. We have nearly 100 unique wines for sale, many of which are not widely available elsewhere. We buy our wine straight from the winemakers, from good people who make good wine, who we know and trust. Every wine we offer has a reason to be here-whether it is simply an outstanding wine or comes from a special terroir, or it tells an important story about Hungarian winemaking. Our goal is to introduce the special wines which are not always easy to find.

Wine, cheese and souce were so delicious. 14 of a group had a wonderful time, from different countries and ages. Amazing shop and service. It's lovely to get to know the cultures of other countries. The wines that were testing today were very good. Excellent selection from Hungary. Thanks NikiVisited December 2022Traveled as a coupleWritten December 28, 2022

Had 5 wines that were good quality and a larger than usual portion for a tasting. Charcuterie was the perfect afternoon snack to keep us going until dinner. Host was charming and our fellow guests made for a great afternoon. It was on the pricier side but felt worth it for a treat.Visited March 2023Traveled with friendsWritten March 7, 2023

Our host was friendly, knowledgeable and clearly enthusiastic about Hungarian wine - without being too heavy and allowing us to enjoy our wine and food in good company. - Cheryl SAbu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates224 contributionsI would surely visit again!Such a lovely experience. A great mix of people including our group of 4, a couple and two singles. All from around the world. The host allowed us to chat and get to know each other before giving a rich history of the wines and his own experiences in life and wine. Hungarian wine is amazing and I loved almost all of them. I’m not even a red wine fan but apart from one I drank them all. The small platters of cheese and pork were a fabulous accompaniment and I would highly recommend this experience to anyone.Visited April 2023Traveled with friendsWritten May 20, 2023

What a fun evening. So much wine!
We sampled 9 wines from all over Hungary. A great space that held a large number of people. We were at a table with ten others but it still felt like you had your own group.
A charcuterie board and some bread to help you not get too drunk.
It was a great start to our Hungarian trip.

Men and mye girlfriend are above avarage interested in wine, food and culture. Booked this without high levels of expectation, but we got an amazing evening. The sommelieres are very skilled and have a lot of knowledge! I missed some more information for the cheese and meat platter regarding which wine for which food, but all in all a highly recommended thing to do when you are in the area!!

A great place to find out about the history of wine in Hungary and to sample some fantastic wines whilst doing so. The staff were very friendly and had a great all round knowledge of both Hungarian and other countries wines. The cheese board was a great accompaniment with the wine tasting and they paired the wines to match the flavours nicely. Would certainly go back and visit again. If using GPS to find the place keep your eye at ground level when in the vicinity as the property is below ground level and the sign for the place is difficult to spot.

My wife and I went for a wine tasting. It turned out to be a private one. The wine specialist was very flexible as he kindly accepted to change the wines so we could focus on the Tokaj wine region. We tasted at least 8 wines, He was very knowledgeable. We took the cheese and cold cuts plate; it was super good and ridiculously big! Amazing experience, I strongly recommend!

Hi, I am visiting Budapest with a friend in two weeks. We are both vegan and was wondering if there were vegan options/vegan cheeses available to pair with the wine. And if not, is there just an option to wine taste without food? Thank you!

As long as you book in advance, we'd be happy to prepare some vegan food as a substitute! Thanks!
