Adam took us for a 2-day tour. Not only did he do a great job showing us the city, adding funny anecdotes and making walking around in the rain worth the while; he was also super flexible schedule wise, taking into account our comfort and needs to change the route if needed. I can tell he absolutely loves the history of his city and loves his job.

There are only positive words for Adam and the overall city-tour.
We visited Pest part the first day and Buda the next day.

Adam is clearly an specialist in Budapest's history and the architecture that resides within the city. Everything was detailed with interesting stories behind the historical facts, dates, myths...

I can clearly without a doubt recommend this tour, it will enrich the experience of your trip.

I did a cycling tour to Szentendre with Adam, combining train and bike. It was approximate 30 km on bike, discovering parts of the city (beautiful old town, nice viewing points) and cycling back to Budapest alongside the Danube through frozen marshlands and peaceful nature. Very well planned tour and guiding!

I had a guided tour around Budapest with Adam at November 2022. It was totally amazing. Adam is a fantastic guy with a lot of humor and amazing stories to tell about Budapest, Hungary and it's connection with the other countries as well. Everyone that goes to Budapest should try it.

My partner and I are returning customers; our first walk was in 2018 and little did we know, that we will be hooked, and will go out of our way to try to secure a walk with Adam every time we visit Budapest.

Entertainingly informative, perfectly taylored walks. I'm sure one can try other walking tours in Budapest, but what's the point even.

Dear Dorottya, Thank you for taking the time to review Adam's tours! We must say that it was great fun to design a tour for you combining the Memento Park with the sites of Budafok and the same applies for the ruin bar tour! The team is looking forward to introducing you to new areas of Budapest the next time you are in town!

I was taking live virtual tours with Adam Marot, who works for Behind Budapest and is an independent contractor of a very disrespectful platform named Virtualtrips Limited (company number 12623120) or HeyGo. They are not private tours, but the guide is responsible for the content and discipline of the tours.

I was very happy with Adam's tours because he is a great photographer, and his tours were very educative. I participated in many of his Jewish Legacy tours beginning in February 7th and in every one I learned different information about Judaism in Hungary.

But something very unusual began to happen in the Judaism tours when a person from Amsterdam, working for a tour guide of that city, began to do the ad of Adam's Jewish Legacy tour for HeyGo in May. The promos began to have happy faces, sarcastic comments, and jokes. Accordingly with the tone of the ads, people participating in Adam's tours began to have a conduct that is not compatible with these kind of tours. That person from Amsterdam seemed to have a big influence on Adam because she entered in many of his tours to boycott them with the approval of the guide.

On July 10th, she entered in his Jewish legacy tour to disrupt it, asking questions via chat about drinking since the beginning of the session. Other travellers, some of them "helpers" of HeyGo were writing in the chat that they wanted to have fun. I was surprised because I didn't remember that situation in these kind of respectful tours, but Adam was not able to maintain the discipline and surprisingly, he read some of the questions of that person that were completely out of topic and even addressed to him (for example, "I just assumed that you were an early drinker" wrote that person). Also that person used to write comments in the chat attacking my religious beliefs and reputation. (Previously I had blocked her from FB because of her behaviour that I reported to HeyGo several times but they seemed to support her). I wrote in the chat that I was interested in the tour while Adam lost the story thread. He didn't complain with the platform. Thereafter, I was attacked in the FB private group. My review referring the issues was deleted violating my freedom of speech. This situation was very stressful for me. Also, I had invited some relatives and a friend to that tour, but fortunately, they couldn't attend.

I also noticed that in the last tour about Pest highlights, including the memorials in Liberty Square, Adam began to dedicate more time to an interactive fountain omitting information about the Memorial dedicated to the Hungarian victims of the Holocaust, and the counter memorial. When I began to tour with Adam, he used to dedicate time to debate about the memorials and it was very interesting. I remember that the mentioned person from Amsterdam entered in that tour at that time to write in the chat referring to the memorial as "the hideous monument in the background spoils the vibe though"

Unexpectedly, days after that tour, Adam Marot posted a comment in the private FB group violating all the rules of the group ( "Be kind and courteous, create a welcoming environment and treat everyone with dignity and respect") changing all the facts accusing me to disrupt his tours. Of course that the post was backed up for the Admin of the HeyGo company and the real provokers.

As a consequence of Adam's defamation I received several threats from different travellers who believed in his false story, and I lost virtual friends who were afraid of the situation and eliminated me as a friend. I moved to other platforms that are very respectful, but I had to change my identity because there are travellers who also participate in different platforms.

I have noticed that the ads in the private virtual tours in the website of Behind Budapest and Virtual Walking tours Budapest are respectful so I don't understand why the guide has two different ads for the same tour, one for his private company and other for HeyGo. Both tours last one hour and are similar. I can't afford a virtual private tour because it costs $85.00, but I am curious about having different behaviours or a double standard on a sensitive topic by the same guide.

I wrote an email to Behind Budapest asking for an explanation of the behaviour of the guide and the corresponding apologies, but I haven't had an answer yet.

We used Adam Marot for our recent stay in Budapest. He offers many tours and we decided to do his 8 hour walking and driving tour. Budapest is so spread out and we wanted to see everything.

Adam is truly a Fantastic Guide and we were honored to be with him for our tour!

He picked us up in a modern van with a driver and we visited Gellert Hill (Statue of Liberty, Citadel) - Buda Castle district (Fisherman's Bastion, Matthias Church, Royal Palace of Buda, Alexander Palace) - Castle tunnel - Chain bridge - House of Parliament , Shoes Memorial, Liberty square- State Opera House (incl. a visit to the lobby) - Andrassy avenue - Heroes square - City Park (incl. Szechenyi bath house, Vajdahunyad Castle) - villas along the Varosliget fasor. Also the Jewish Quarter including the Great Synagogue ,The Raul Wallenberg Memorial Park, and Martyr's Cemetery.

Adam is personable, kind, very knowledgeable, and also has a good sense of humor.

He shared so many stories on the history of Budapest and all of the sites we visited.

We even learned about the situation with few doctor's in Budapest because of the low pay and also about his life there and his family stories.

We liked the way he expressed his true feelings on life in Budapest, Politics - and what happened with the Germans there, and the Jewish Community during the occupation.

We never felt rushed and he gave us time to reflect on sites that were sensitive to us.

Adam made history come alive with all the details! He knows every facet of Budapest.

My husband loves history and asked a ton of questions. He was patient and answered everything with wonderful knowledge of each question.

Spending 8 hours with Adam went by so quickly because the tour was Outstanding!

We stopped for strudel at his favorite strudel shop, and it was delicious.

Thank you to Viktoria who also assisted Adam. She was excellent and very informative.

We left our tour knowing we have made a new friend.

After a full day with Adam we not only saw all the sites, but learned so much and in a very personable way.

Adam was a pure delight to be with!

If you are looking for a MAGNIFICENT and FABULOUS guide in Budapest - you must use Adam. It will be a tour you will never forget!

When you just do not want to miss a word from the ones said by your Guide you know that you are with Adam Marot ...it is not only his knowledge or how well informed he is ...it is how he gets your attention with his great sense of humour and attention given for details...

It is worth mentioning that he organised a special tour dedicated for the theme of training course "Face the Race!" that we were running in Budapest from 4-11/12/2014. We had one day tour as part of the program and he made it suit the topic which was fighing against racism and discrimination.

Thank you very much for letting me discover Budapest as if I was seeing it for the first time despite being there 6 times before.

I went on a 4 hour walking tour of Budapest on Saturday, April 30th with my husband, son (14 yrs old), & daughter (21 years old). If you want to learn EVERYTHING (and I mean everything!), there is to know about Budapest by a soft spoken, easy going young man, then Adam is definitely the person to contact (or his company-(behindbudapest@gmail). It was refreshing to see a young person who was so proud of his city and so eager to share his extensive knowledge about the place where he was born and lived his whole life. Adam was like a walking encyclopedia (it seemed like there was virtually nothing he didn't know), and he imparted this knowledge in a friendly, funny & interactive way. He also kept the attention of my children, which sometimes can be hard to do :) Also, Adam shared much personal history with us which made the tour that much more interesting. Even after the 4 hours was over, Adam highlighted for us what to do, where to go, as well as gave us recommendations for places to eat. Our tour with Adam was definitely the highlight of our visit to Budapest!
