You must go today!
Sep 2021
Parking is free at the bottom, just 15 min drive from the Budapest center.
Everyone who loves Nature and little adventure or hiking must visit and ride the Zugligeti Libego.
For one person for one way price is 1200 HUF and return is 1600 HUF (4.5 EUR or 5.2 USD). Chairlift can bring 2 adult persons at once.
And at the top the view is amazing. And you have Elisabeth Lookout if you continue to climb by foot for 10 more minutes (turn right when you exit at the top).
There is playground and big park also. A small restaurant is located at the chairlift station, and one at the Lookout.
The ride is smooth and nice.
We definitely recommend it.

Awesome views, fun ride
Oct 2019
Bring exact money for the ticket machine and hang on to your ticket as you will need it to come back down. We visited with some family consisting of four adult and a five year old. There are paths to walk on and a turret to climb. The view on Buda and pest below is fantastic. My sister in law drove us there (she is local) and I think it would be difficult to get to and from there without a car. However, the public transport is pretty extensive in Budapest so maybe there is a way. The ride up is on a ski lift type device and really beautiful views are all the way up.

Avoid peak times and you will be fine
Jan 2020
This chairlift has wonderful view but has some unfriendly staff and can be severely disrupted if you go at peak hour by tourists coming off tour buses.

A perfect wrap-up for a morning in nature
Feb 2020
The chairlift ride itself was a very nice experience. I would recommend taking the way from the hill down to the city, where, during an approximately 15-minute ride, you get to see a few different types of scenery subtly changing - from that high up, first few minutes you're above the trees and you can observe the skyline of Budapest (with time you can even distinguish the building of the Parliament, for example), then you're among the trees where it's just super quiet and serene, and lastly, you're passing cute houses in the suburb, which are only meters below your feet.

There are quite a few routes you can take to the top of the hill, but I would recommend the one which is kind of ''off the beaten track'' or the one which at least let's you explore lesser known neighborhoods of Budapest, while also taking you for a walk in the nature.

At Szell Kalman ter, take tram 56 or 61 to the Varosmajor. At that stop, change to number 60 (it's a cogwheel railway, opened in 1874, and it'll take you on a most scenic ride!). After getting off at it's last stop, take a 10 minute walk to Normafa and enter a park nearby (you'll see where all the people and their pets are flocking to). From there, it's a 30-minute pleasant walk (can't call it a hike, since it's just way to easy) through the forest. Follow the signs and you'll reach the chairlift easily!

Peaceful, relaxing way to descend
Jan 2020
We hiked through Normafa to get to the top of Janosjhegy and then took the Zugligeti down. The price is quite reasonable and the ride was lovely. It isn't too fast and is quiet. The views are spectacular.
There is a camera at the end that will take your photo, providing a really sweet souvenir.
I would highly recommend purchasing a chimney cake before you go - they are THE BEST!

Good when combined with something else

I can’t believe that chairlift goes through people’s gardens. It rises quite quickly and is fast as it rises to Elisabeth Tower. We combined it with a trip to the observatory and Children’s Railway. I thought it was quite pricey -1600 return but considering at the time it was £4 it was worth it. At one end it takes a photo of you and of course you can pay extra at the bottom for the pleasure.

Had an amazing time. Was a cold sunny day and I caught the most amazing views. It’s so tranquil and quiet and peaceful. The chairlift is comfy and you get to see everything going up and coming back down. The castle at the top once you reach is the cherry on top. You get to see amazing Panoramic views it’s indescribable. It’s just the best. Will def do this again.

A good way to get to the bottom.

Even for someone who doesn’t like heights, this chairlift is ok and doesn’t rock around very much. Stunning views from the chairs and a great way to get to the bottom of the mountain.

Worth going even when there is no view.
Nov 2019
15 minututes up and down. Wonderful quiet ride with great scenery if you could see it. Unfortunately we went up on the only day that we could and it was misty. At the top there is a cafe where you can have a hot drink and a snack. There will be more food stalls available in the summer months but they were shut at the end of November. There is an easy walk which will take you up to another cafe and a tower which you can climb up for more views. This is a different day out for the family and the kids will love it. If you have a Budapest card your journey will be free. Remember to smile for the photographs.
