We arrived to tis escape room, following a positive review we saw online, and I have to say we were not disappointed!
After experiencing more than 30 rooms, we learned to appreciate the rooms that are carefully designed to provide you with a story that would make sense while keeping the level of riddles high and the flow of the room intact.
Pirate Cave was all of that. We ad a blast going through the various spaces of the room, solving the riddles and progressing through the story line.
The room is well thought, with a nice mix of locks and technological elements that keeps you excited throughout the experience.
Highly recommend it both for beginners and experienced players.

One of our most favourite exit rooms in Budapest. We have now played about 20 rooms in Budapest, and this one is amongst the top 5. You can feel the thought and energy the builders have put into this room, both to the decoration and the technical side of the game. Tasks that are just hard enough keep you engaged. There are some surprises hidden for the players to find. We had fun and enjoyed every minute.

The site itself is ‘hidden’ in a gated area full of office/commercial buildings that seem to come from another time, and if you are not familiar with the area is a little hard to find. Google maps guided us all the way.

I believe the Pirate Cave has one of the best game designs in Budapest, the puzzles are logical, fit the story and the theme well and give the room a nice flow. Some of the puzzles are really original and out of the box, which is somethign I appreciate greatly. Moreover, the hint system is very clever and doesn't take you out of the mood (they are part of the story not just a walkie talkie in your hand, we didn't get to use it but were thoroughly impressed witht the idea).

Pirate Cave also belongs between the very few games in Budapest that actually have a working storyline that is present throughout the whole experience. From the video briefing, through the hint system, to the game decisions.

The only major downside for me were the visuals of the room. Pirate Cave has been around for a while and it's well visible. To put it plainly the environment doesn't look very visually pleasing and would really deserve an upgrade to make the place actually look like a pirate cave and not a room with drawings and few decorations on the walls.

On the other hand, the staff is really nice and overal we had a great time playing the game.

Thanks for the experience! :)

This is a well-built room, with a nice variety of puzzles. The physical interaction with the room was good, and there is a piece of interaction halfway through the game that is Disneyland-fantastic :)

The final puzzle, however, I found incredibly frustrating. Nothing wrong with colour puzzles per se, but in this case the colours were so similar that it was hard to distinguish between them—which made it challenging in the wrong kind of way. As a result, we were struggling with the puzzle even though we more or less knew what to do. Pity, because coming out of the first room our flow was real good, but because of the final puzzle we left the game feeling somewhat unsatisfied.

A really fun, amazingly themed room! A little bit out of the way, but not too hard to find if you get the metro and it’s absolutely worth the journey. Being English we were a little worried about not being able to understand the puzzles, but as it says on the website everything in the room is really clear and the friendly host spoke perfect English too. Won’t spoil any specifics, but there were some really amazing moments in this room - you’ll know when you see them. Puzzles all fit within the theme, and you can tell a lot of thought and care had gone in to making the whole experience feel like a proper pirate adventure. Would definitely recommend!

We did 7 escape rooms in Budapest and this was our favourite. The story is very interesting, the puzzles are unique. We have never seen anything like it. It is a multi- room game, and it has just the perfect number of puzzles. The way you get hints/clues is also like no other. Everything is very well made. You are guaranteed to enjoy it even if you don’t succeed. We were only 2 people, personally I think this is best played in small groups 2-4. The game master is a star! Thank you.

This escape room is worth a visit! The gameplay was logical, the puzzles were quite witty and the decoration is nicely done. We tested it in two (we have done around 20 escapes in total) and got out with just few clues. Highly recommend!

We did it as a team of two and had a great time. This is absolutely worth the ride out, but it is a bit of a ride. You cannot walk here from the center of the city. Would be awesome to do as a family of all ages!!

We visited the room in August 2016 and we still talk about it! We didn't leave a review then, so I might as well do it now. :-) The Pirate Cave has been to this day one of the coolest escape rooms that we've ever escaped from (and the count is now close to 30, so we've been to quite a few), not only in Budapest but in general. The room is very authentic and 'real', with great props and a proper pirate feel to it; the puzzles are a lot of fun and the game develops really well. We were received by a very friendly gamemaster and loved our time there - it is located a bit outside of the center, but it is so worth the trip; do not miss it!
