As part of our walking tour of Pest we got to see this. Delightful statue but not necessarily worth a detour. There is a mini statue of a balloon dog nearby (I thought it was a dog turd at first)

The hop on Hop off bus makes life easier in Budapest. The ticket includes a free boat trip on the Danube. We did the day night and twilight trip (3 times). the bus takes you to the main attractions. Buy the 3 day ticket from the red umbrella street vendors and not at the hotel. The street vendors are cheaper. There is a new Holocaust museum near the Pava st. Synagogue, very well presented. Go there!

On the Danube Promenade in Budapest - when you are walking you shall find - sooner or later this statue - the statue of Marton Laszlo ... form the 1970's ... and it is said that the inspiration for this was one of the daughters of the sculpture.
Overall interesting - over the years it become a landmark and typically you have to wait for other tourist to finish their photos in order to take yours

The Little Princess (Kiskirálylány) statue found on the Danube Promenade is one of the iconic images of Budapest that many associate with this central European city.

This small statue of a young girl, playfully sitting on the Promenade railings, wearing a princess outfit and crown is the creation of Hungarian sculptor, László Marton, who gave this statue to the city in 1972.

You can find Little Princess directly upon the Danube Promenade on the Pest side of the river. It is an easy walk from most places in the city centre and is an enjoyable thing to see when visiting Budapest.

Tip: An enjoyable activity is try and capture pictures of Little Princess with the equally famous Tram Line 2 approaching. The Tram runs directly behind the statue so you can capture both in the same frame.

Based on the 1972 statute by László Marton the large version has graced the banks of the Danube since 1990 is all her glory.

Upon looking many do not see the statue as a princess but more like some sort of court jester or joker which is really quite understandable.

Located along the Danube promenade and within a stone throw of other fascinating sculptures this one piece has some how set itself apart and has become one of the quintessential icon's of the city as it is often portrayed on brochures and travel literature.

When photographing it see if you can frame the little princess so that you get the majestic and grand Budapest Castle in your shot also

This is the best spot for a photo on the Danube promenade, with the Buda Castle in the background. We had to wait for four others to finish taking their photos on our weekend visit.

This is a selfie MUST location for tourists, as the statue of the little princess is absolutely adorable.
I keep visiting it each and every time I am in Budapest and each time - it makes me smile.

Budapest is a city with many beautiful bronze statues. Having been to Hungary many times, this is the one that has been my favourite and beside which I’ve had my photo taken on over ten of my Budapest visits. I was surprised to learn that it is called “Little Princess.” I had previously thought it was a playful little joker; and I thought it was a boy, not a girl princess.

This 1972 Little Princess sitting on the railing statue with Castle Hill in the background is a great place to take memorable photos of your vacation/visit.

In addition to the Little Princess statue, my two other Budapest favourites are Ronald Regan statue in Liberty Square (Szabadsag Square), and the Fat Policeman on the street leading to the main entrance of St. Stephen's Basilica (Szent Istvan Bazilika).

These beautiful works of art are one of the many beautiful statues in this beautiful city. We were pleasantly surprised by this artwork. Hungarian sculptor László Marton was inspired by his eldest daughter to make this statue. The Little Princess (Kiskiralylany) statue located on the Danube Promenade is one of the iconic images of Budapest. It is located near the Elisabeth Bridge on the Pest side, close to another small sculpture, the lady with her dog. This beautiful work of art highlights the background, where we can enjoy the Danube and the Buda Castle. Nice sight.
