I cannot recommend enough! My partner and I booked the “All in” package, so got a 60 minute massage, 20 minutes in the aromatherapy room, private changing cabins and unlimited access to the relaxation room, as well as the Széchenyi spa pools. We got a towel, robe and flip flops to use for the day (be aware that they take a deposit of 15,000 HUF for these, which you get back when you return them).
The palmahaz staff were smiley and helpful, and really helped us to feel relaxed throughout the day. We were shown around when we first arrived, which was really helpful because the place is a bit of a maze.
We had unlimited fruit bowls, herbal tea and water (chilled, sparkling etc) throughout the day. The relaxation room is full of comfy places to sit/lie down and relax, including hammocks! The atmosphere is lovely as the room is full of plants and some chilled music playing. As it went dark outside they put some low lighting on which made the room even more relaxing.
Our full body massages were bespoke to our needs and we were able to choose between several different oils. My only slight qualm with this was that there wasn’t a massage table with the face hole, it was more of a foam mat on the floor. This wasn’t an issue for me as such, other than my face squishing into the mat a bit, but for anyone who has difficulty getting themselves up off the floor, this might be a problem.

We visited out of holiday season (last week of March) and by 10am it was already very busy. However, we paid extra for the private rooms which if you can afford, I would definitely recommend. We arrived to be shown to our room at just before 8am which meant by the time we had changed and got into the indoor area of the spa we had almost nobody around. The salt sauna was amazing, as was the regular steam room. My boyfriend took a dip in the cold pool after the sauna, bravely. The outdoor pool was gorgeous and overall we had a lovely time. The only downside was how busy it got but you could avoid this by going very early or out of season (winter)

This is significantly more expensive than just paying normal entry. However, for the extra you get the rob and towel, access to decent massage at decent price. On top of that you get access to a very nice, relaxing palm house on top of the building. The fruit, spring water and herb tea provided really add to the day. Staff were really helpful, friendly and efficient.

We visited the spa on Monday. We arrived at around 3 and from the minute we entered the thermal baths we had nothing but hassle. We paid for the single 49 package to enter the lounge and receive cabins towels etc. The 'cabins' are a tiny dirty box to put your things into. We were in the lounge trying to relax after nearly two hours of waiting around and trying to organise messages etc. My granny was then confronted by a young girl asking her to pay the fee to enter the lounge as apparately she did not pay. We explained that there was confusion at admissions but the 8 of us had paid. she continued to argue with us and demanded a receipt. We were unable to find the receipt straight away but eventually found it, to be then laughed at and told it was my receipt i gave and not my grannys. we were treated like dirt in the lounge and spent over 400euro in the place. the manager was totally rude and after showing our eight receipts did nothing until finally giving us a refund for only 4 people as the ENTIRE day was completely ruint and was not relaxing in anyway whatsoever. he then demanded we leave as we technically only paid for 2 people to be there. I work in retail I know what is involved in customer service and this was totally unacceptable. I have never experienced such disgusting behaviour by Brown adults. been laughed at by the ladyat the desk and accussed of not paying the entry was totally embarassing, they do not deserve the money. I understand people making mistakes and that is perfectly fine but you do not treat people the way they did. Do NOT waste your money on this place regardless of our horrible experience it wasn't even worth the money, but do visit the baths, they are worth seeing.

Turn-of-the-century grandeur; you are swept back in time. Since we came without towels and were tired from many hours of travel from the U.S., we opted for the spa package that included plush robes, a 30-minute massage in the "penthouse" oasis, complimentary fruit (a lovely fruit salad bowl prepared fresh each time -- as much as you wanted), hot tea, and a quiet relaxation area with hammocks, lounge chairs and magazines. Prior to our massage, we visited the various interior pools, saunas, and steam baths. My favorite interior pool looked like a traditional Turkish bath with gorgeous maroon marble columns. The vibe is convivial and relaxed throughout. Morning and afternoon are good times to visit; by evening, there are loads of people who come after work. We had our massages and were very impressed by the skill of the masseurs. The Palmahaz staff are professional and very gracious. After more relaxation in the oasis, we ventured outside to the pools in the courtyard. (If you've got flip-flops, take them! There are tiny bits of gravel in the courtyard!) We enjoyed lounging in the large, warm outdoor pool. Our absolute favorite pool was a fast "lazy river" feature in the center of the other main outdoor pool. You jump into the current and off you go, round and round! A total party and everyone was having a good time. Szechenyi Baths came highly recommended by a friend who grew up in Budapest. They are clearly a local favorite and a great way to immerse yourself in the local scene (pun intended). We stayed for about 5 hours and left happy, clean, and very, very relaxed!

The place is run down and they massage you on the floor mat. Staff is beyond rude and unprofessional. I checked in and was given men’s size flip flops w a bathrobe and a towel. I was told I can give them my sun glasses instead of the deposit. Then they asked me for 20€ deposit so I handed them €50. They didn’t have change so they kept 50€. After my massage I went down to the pool. By the time I came back they were closed so I couldn’t get my deposit back so I had to schlep around town w the bathrobe. No one told me they close before the pools do. When I returned the next day I spoke to the manager who after I explained my frustration to him told me “and what do you want now”. He was so rude and offered no apology. I would only recommend taking the photos of the beautiful architecture of the baths but skip the spa and massage. Space is very dirty and packed w people. Not a pleasant experience at all.

We spend a wonderful day at the Szechenyi Palmahaz spa, honestly mainly because we opted for the vip treatment with the relaxing area. The day would not have been as good if we did not add this extra to our visit to Szechenyi Baths and Pool. Free fruit juices and fruit salads all day, tranquil environment, great lounge chairs and friendly staff. When the downstairs baths became to crowded and noisy to our taste we moved back upstairs. It looks and feels like a sophisticated lounge club on top of an ancient bathhouse. And that is exactly what is is.
To complement it even more I would add showering facilities and changing rooms.

Any time we are in a spa with my wife, the noise level maked us ever more tired. This place not only offered a good massage, but we could wind down before and relax after the treatment. Staff was friendly, kind of surprised to talk their native Hungarian with guests.

I made an appointment with this company for a massage that wasn't honored. I came back at the time I was told and spent 30 minutes just trying to find the representative in the lobby. Someone finally arrived for me to find out that I no longer had an appointment. I would go with one of the other companies

Hello,
Are the baths accessible with a wheelchair?
Written June 25, 2015
No they are not.
You have to go thru the small foot wash area then the stairs to the pool area. Unless someone carries you there is no way to get around if you are in a wheelchair. I did see a kid in a wheel chair w multiple adults carrying him and the chair around.
