Marti is very friendly and makes you feel at home. She is also talented and knows the ins and outs of Hungarian cooking. The food was so good, colorful and full of flavour, and the cooking was fun. Many of the ingredients were homemade and absolutely delicious. Marti also offered us cheese and vegetables fresh from the food market along with homemade bread. I enjoyed this experience very much and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Budapest!

I had a wonderful evening learning to bake with Marti. I arrived at her beautiful apartment, filled with dried lavenders from the countryside, with ease and everything was meticulously prepared for me. A welcome drink of apricot Palinka and two homemade cordials (elderflower by Marti, raspberry by her mother - I trust her mother’s skill already!). Her knowledge of Hungarian cuisine and the culture around it was fantastic - as we made the Langos breads she told me all about the countryside where she grew up, the fruits and flowers and wine (I must visit one day!). I was really keen to learn how to stretch the strudel dough myself so she made sure we did that together, which was so kind. And her beautiful Dobos cake will be my new go-to for impressive desserts - I’d never have managed the fancy caramel topping by myself. Just wonderful. I can’t recommend her classes enough!

I booked this experience as a surprise for my partner to celebrate our anniversary in Budapest. I only told him that morning what we were about to do. It was very simple to keep the secret though as our wonderful pixie, Marti was waiting outside to pick us up! She drove us to our kitchen and on the way, showed us around the city. There was very little planning or stress involved. I think it's a wonderful touch to the day. We started (the morning!) cooking session with Palinka! And I mean ... you know the cooking session goes well after that! 😂 We cooked Fish Soup, Apple Pie and Chicken Paprikash. I can't even describe how dear this experience is to our hearts. It's irreplaceable. It's not just a cooking lesson. It's an entire experience of spending half a day with a wonderful person and Budapest local. You get shown around the city, learn about the dishes you're cooking and why you're cooking them a certain way and get lots of insights into the culture and city of Budapest. Marti even brought us to our next destination for the day instead of back home! Which was so extremely helpful. It felt like she was an aunt that we knew from Budapest dropping us off, rather than a stranger we had met that morning! I'm the type of person to look around all the possible experiences, research a lot and hope I picked the right choice at the end. I'm so happy with this choice though! Don't look any further. Seriously. Book this experience. It will be the highlight of your trip. It's an amazing experience. We absolutely hope to see Marti again when we're back in Budapest!!! We wish you all the best and Thank You for this experience. Hope to see you very soon!

Márti the host is very hospitable and kind. Everything was prepared at hand and she explained every single details how much ingredients I need to weigh how soft the dow should be , bubbles etc. Helped me throughout the whole process. Was easy to learn. I was able to take all the strudel home. We took some pic from the process to remember easier. I highly recommend her classes .

We had a great time during our private strudel baking course and can absolutely recommend it :) It was great that the baking was in private, so my friend and I could learned all the steps from the beginning to the end. Marti is a great host and during the baking we also tried some typical hungarian food bites like the hungarian sausages and peppers and of course the hungarian parlinka. In summary we had a really lovely evening and the strudel was really delicious :)
