The area
Address
Neighborhood: Margaret Island
For Budapest, this island between the banks of the Danube represents a green oasis, especially during summer when its emerald spaces are much enjoyed by both locals and tourists. The gardens here are very picturesque; the flowers in full bloom give the landscape a variety of hues; the fountains add an air of freshness, making walks peaceful, joyful and romantic. A leisurely stroll will uncover a variety of sites, even the ruins of a medieval Franciscan church and convent are still visible.

Half the price of the higher profiles thermal spas in the city, has two Thermal pools, separate swimming lanes (for the energetic), a Wave pool, additional heated pools (all with in-pool seating) and a kids pool. Such a large facility that you do not feel crowded even alongside thousands of fellow bathers. Throw in many well priced food and drink options (very nice cocktails!), plus Free poolside lockers, and you have a great venue for hours of relaxation. (Note: is ‘not’ a natural spring spa if you particularly want that). Recommend a cabin for minor additional cost if you have larger personal items to store or want changing privacy.
Margaret island itself has many other attractions which make it a great part of any visit to Budapest. We went by boat and left on foot, easy to get to from most parts of the city.

Just can't understand any poor review. The baths are very cheap if you're going for the day. Me, my wife and little girl who was free cost around £15. They have loads of outdoor pools, the kids areas are fantastic and shallow and safe enough. We couldn't get my daughter out. There's tonnes of snack bars selling street food, burgers, langos, beers, cocktails, ice cream, even accessories and many more at prices you'd pay on the streets.
The indoor area is also great, steam room, hot sauna, aroma sauna, cold and hot plunge, thermal pool and all very clean. Loads of free lockers, large changing rooms, lifts, everything! Even walking round the complex is nice.

Spent the day with the family at Palatinus Strand baths on Margaret Island Budapest and had a fantastic day.
Margaret Island is a beautiful place to visit and the baths are the icing on the cake.
The baths offer changing facilities, lockers and a variety of indoor and outdoor pools including a wave pool, water slides, swimming pool, activity pool, children’s pool’ thermal pools and main relaxation pool.
Lots of sun loungers around the ‘beach’ area and all for the price of less than £7pp for the entire day - unbelievable!!!
Booked online on their own website which has an English version so booking was easy.
Food and drink was readily available, good choice and good price but you can also bring in your own food/snacks and drinks if that suits your family or your budget.
Card payment only but can load cash onto a payment card at reception which can be topped up throughout the day and any balance left will be refunded prior to leaving.
I have travelled to many places in Europe and further afield and never found anything that was better value for money and in such a beautiful setting in the park (which is free) where you can stay into the evening and have a drink, food and enjoy the entertainment on offer

Was good for a hot day and it’s a huge place but the indoor pools smell really off and unclean. The guy making cocktails in the roof top bar was so so lovely and made unreal drinks for 3£ definitely recommend. It feels very very outdated though and half of the pools including the slides and waves pools were closed. One of the girls on the front desk was very nice and welcoming. Very relaxed vibe about this place staff turn a blind eye to bringing drinks in the pool, not wearing sliders etc. To be honest it wouldn’t be worth the full price tickets at the moment but if your a broke student on the last day of your holiday needing a wee pick me up I would recommend, wouldn’t go again though. Rudas baths are so so much better.

Myself and my friend visited here this week and we were grateful to have found somewhere like this as the sun exceed 40 degrees on most days, it was very cheap and we got to use our student cards for discount the grounds surrounding are beautiful. There are lots of food places to choose from and reasonably priced. There is probably about 7 pools doted around and a small water park, however they are very dirty and lots of stagnant water and thick black slime which you will find floating about so this was very off putting. Not sure what the cleaning regime of the pools are but as I say the grounds are lovely and people didn’t seem that bothered by the dirty water.

I visited Rudas and Gallerth baths but my son was disappointed and he was not allowed in both of them. We cam to know about Palatinus Strand on Margaret Island and decided to try it out.
And good thing that we did try it, first off rates are quite well priced, children are allowed, there is indoor and outdoor pool where they can accompany you, temperature of the pools was quite nice, didn't feel cold even though outside temperature was bit chilly, all in all a very good visit.
Only downside was one of the attendants was very much rude in his behaviour but that maybe entirely upto language (we didn't know Hungarian and he didn't know English)
Now this visit should take 3 hours max but Margaret Island is something you can spend whole day in, so I would highly recommend this over other baths if you have a family.

After reading a number of reviews for other Baths in the City we were put off to the fact we had two young children. This Bath hit the spot. The Childrens pool was a brilliant temperature and the kids loved it. The outdoor pool was brilliant too and accommodating for children. Some of the pool inside were not Children friendly.Lots of outside pools were closed for the winter but can only get better in the summer

Having already been to the other more touristy and glamorous thermal baths in Budapest we decided to explore Margret Island. The pools here turned out to be equally as great in a more functional and quieter way. We were there in February so not sure how it is in peak season but it was absolutely gorgeous lying in the sun on the slopes of the outdoor thermal pool with the locals. We love a lido in the UK so it was brilliant after so much lying around in hot pools to get a proper outdoor swim too. Clean, lovely changing cabins, free hairdryer, bus to the door….. another easy and soulful day in Budapest.

Inside the isle Margit you can spend your whole day in this place. Slides for all ages, several pools and attractions. It can be reached by bike or public transportation. Food, snacks and small shops with bathing stuff to buy. All affordable prices. Strongly recommend for the summer days and combined with a visit in the island it makes a perfect day for all. Also one thermal bath pool available to experience.

Hi , we are looking at visiting on 17th October, 2019. What is actually open ? Will the slides be open or will parts of the pools also be closed ? One opportunity to do a spa/thermal pool thing whilst in Budapest and have settled on this one..... any deals for familys of 4 ?

Hi, it’s open all year round and the thermal pool is inside so you can use that, however the slides and whirl pool and two other outside pools will be closed. I was there end of April 2019 and was told that other than two outside pools all the other ones only open during the summer.
Palatinus is great during the summer (from 1st May) when everything is open but otherwise it’s not worth going as the thermal pool is quite small. The entry fee is reduced during the winter because of the limited availability of pools.
Colder months are better in the Szechenyi Or Gellert Bath.
Hope this helps :)

Ciao, vorrei sapere se i lettini e gli ombrelloni sono compresi nel biglietto o se si pagano a parte. Oppure se ci sono zone ombreggiate in cui sistemarsi... grazie.

Sorry, I have no idea, I didn't take them... But you have places in the shadow, of course! :-)
Does every person need their own towel or can you share towels between people
As carrying around 4 towels isn't practical and renting 4 towels is expensive
