The area
Address
Neighborhood: Margaret Island
For Budapest, this island between the banks of the Danube represents a green oasis, especially during summer when its emerald spaces are much enjoyed by both locals and tourists. The gardens here are very picturesque; the flowers in full bloom give the landscape a variety of hues; the fountains add an air of freshness, making walks peaceful, joyful and romantic. A leisurely stroll will uncover a variety of sites, even the ruins of a medieval Franciscan church and convent are still visible.

Half the price of the higher profiles thermal spas in the city, has two Thermal pools, separate swimming lanes (for the energetic), a Wave pool, additional heated pools (all with in-pool seating) and a kids pool. Such a large facility that you do not feel crowded even alongside thousands of fellow bathers. Throw in many well priced food and drink options (very nice cocktails!), plus Free poolside lockers, and you have a great venue for hours of relaxation. (Note: is ‘not’ a natural spring spa if you particularly want that). Recommend a cabin for minor additional cost if you have larger personal items to store or want changing privacy.
Margaret island itself has many other attractions which make it a great part of any visit to Budapest. We went by boat and left on foot, easy to get to from most parts of the city.

Just can't understand any poor review. The baths are very cheap if you're going for the day. Me, my wife and little girl who was free cost around £15. They have loads of outdoor pools, the kids areas are fantastic and shallow and safe enough. We couldn't get my daughter out. There's tonnes of snack bars selling street food, burgers, langos, beers, cocktails, ice cream, even accessories and many more at prices you'd pay on the streets.

The indoor area is also great, steam room, hot sauna, aroma sauna, cold and hot plunge, thermal pool and all very clean. Loads of free lockers, large changing rooms, lifts, everything! Even walking round the complex is nice.

Definitely the most fun and kid friendly of the thermal baths. Outside baths were great and clean. The slides were a lot of fun as was the wave pool. Good selection of food on site, could easily spend the whole day. Inside baths were limited - quite small and only one sauna was open but didn’t affect our visit

Was good for a hot day and it’s a huge place but the indoor pools smell really off and unclean. The guy making cocktails in the roof top bar was so so lovely and made unreal drinks for 3£ definitely recommend. It feels very very outdated though and half of the pools including the slides and waves pools were closed. One of the girls on the front desk was very nice and welcoming. Very relaxed vibe about this place staff turn a blind eye to bringing drinks in the pool, not wearing sliders etc. To be honest it wouldn’t be worth the full price tickets at the moment but if your a broke student on the last day of your holiday needing a wee pick me up I would recommend, wouldn’t go again though. Rudas baths are so so much better.

Myself and my friend visited here this week and we were grateful to have found somewhere like this as the sun exceed 40 degrees on most days, it was very cheap and we got to use our student cards for discount the grounds surrounding are beautiful. There are lots of food places to choose from and reasonably priced. There is probably about 7 pools doted around and a small water park, however they are very dirty and lots of stagnant water and thick black slime which you will find floating about so this was very off putting. Not sure what the cleaning regime of the pools are but as I say the grounds are lovely and people didn’t seem that bothered by the dirty water.

Spent the day with the family at Palatinus Strand baths on Margaret Island Budapest and had a fantastic day.

Margaret Island is a beautiful place to visit and the baths are the icing on the cake.

The baths offer changing facilities, lockers and a variety of indoor and outdoor pools including a wave pool, water slides, swimming pool, activity pool, children’s pool’ thermal pools and main relaxation pool.

Lots of sun loungers around the ‘beach’ area and all for the price of less than £7pp for the entire day - unbelievable!!!

Booked online on their own website which has an English version so booking was easy.

Food and drink was readily available, good choice and good price but you can also bring in your own food/snacks and drinks if that suits your family or your budget.

Card payment only but can load cash onto a payment card at reception which can be topped up throughout the day and any balance left will be refunded prior to leaving.

I have travelled to many places in Europe and further afield and never found anything that was better value for money and in such a beautiful setting in the park (which is free) where you can stay into the evening and have a drink, food and enjoy the entertainment on offer

I visited Rudas and Gallerth baths but my son was disappointed and he was not allowed in both of them. We cam to know about Palatinus Strand on Margaret Island and decided to try it out.
And good thing that we did try it, first off rates are quite well priced, children are allowed, there is indoor and outdoor pool where they can accompany you, temperature of the pools was quite nice, didn't feel cold even though outside temperature was bit chilly, all in all a very good visit.
Only downside was one of the attendants was very much rude in his behaviour but that maybe entirely upto language (we didn't know Hungarian and he didn't know English)
Now this visit should take 3 hours max but Margaret Island is something you can spend whole day in, so I would highly recommend this over other baths if you have a family.

Fantastic outdoor baths. Very clean, friendly staff and well priced. I much preferred it to Széchenyi Thermal which I found totally over priced and too touristy. Entrance here was cheap and we also managed to get sun loungers. Great vibes!

We spent 4 hours here and it was very enjoyable. The kids enjoyed the water slides (my kids are teens and a tween so pretty self sufficient however if you have younger kids you need to keep an eye on them at the base pool of the slides as the "life guard" there seemed very easily distracted). The staff at the top of the slides seemed a little hap-hazard with the distance between two people entering the slide but then I guess I depends what kind of safety rules you are use to. The wave pool is announced over the PA 5 mins before it starts and it gets very crowded so watch your little ones but lots of fun. We only spent time in the outdoor pools and thermal baths so I can not comment on the others but all was good with these. you need a swimming cap if you are wanting to swim in the "lap pool". Goggles come in handy but not required. Make sure you bring flip-flops and a towel. It was very easy to get a small token card (you can attach it to the wristband and swim with it) that you can add money to and this is used at the food outlets then what ever is remaining on the cards is refunded to you when you return the token. (side note the lady working the cash counter on Fri 12th Aug was so very nice and helpful) Also when you buy your ticket you all get a wrist band that allows you to use a vacant locker and it will lock using the code in your wristband only so i felt very safe. Don't bother to rent a "cabin" it is basically a change room and there are plenty on the locker room floor for you to use (no communal changing here). If you want sun-loungers / chairs then you need to get there early, otherwise there was plenty of areas to thrown down your towel. Then near the pools there are more smaller lockers if you want to put in your valuables while swimming, again these seemed to go pretty quick. we got a txi to Margaret Island but be aware that they can only drop you at the entrance and from there is was about a 15 minute walk down to the entrance of the pools via a lovely park. Overall a really satisfying and pleasant experience.

This is an amazing facility! It is very clean and the water temperatures are perfect.

Our children would have stayed here until closing.

To ride on the chutes, children must have a shoulder height of 1.2m.

Tips:
Plan how to get to Margaret Island
Catch the free shuttle bus from Margaret Bridge end of island
Arrive early before it gets too crowded
