The area

Neighborhood: District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.

This is a lovely promenade, located on the Buda part of town, just behind the palace.
There are some lovely views from the promenade and it makes a lovely 30-45 minute romantic stroll.

It's OK walking along here. The views of the 'quiet' side are alright, one supposes. Not spectacular. Having just looked at some of the photos other reviewers have put on here, I've realised that if I had walked it a little more, I wouldn't have missed most of it.

That's a big issue in Budapest for me......it's fairly difficult to find many attractions and a lot of aimless walking because of this gets tiresome.

Nice trees in lines on some of the path. It's ok around here, but not essential

This is a tree lined pedestriansied walkway around the non River side of the Castle complex with some nevertheless great views. Lined with benches for you to sit and people watch or simply peruse your map/guide book it provides a welcome introduction to this area.

Arpad Toth Promenade is an approximately 800 metre long tree lined pedestrian stretch of walkway that runs alongside and on top of the castle walls on the non-Danube River side of Castle Hill i.e. on the opposite side of the hill to Fisherman's Bastion.

There are some good views to be had of Buda from here and it is significantly less crowded than on the Danube River side of the hill.

We walked along here looking for the entrance to the Hospital in the Rock. We eventually found a lift (not working) and a stairway that took us down to the entrance to this attraction.

My friends and I ended up walking this because it was one route to get back to where we needed to be, and it was very nice on a beautiful, sunny day. I would not make a point of getting to this spot on it's own though. It is close to Matthias Church and Fisherman's Bastion and some shops and restaurants though, so easy to work it into that kind of itinerary.

An excellent shaded pedestrian walk on a high wall with views over the old city. It makes an excellent approach route to the famous Matthais Church. It has an interesting sculpture to mark an anniversary in the coming together of the various parts of the city: and is said to have caused great mirth when important members of the communist hierarchy were photographed next to it at the opening ceremony.

We walked along the Arpad Thoth Promenade a while back when we were leaving the Fisherman's Bastion. Have seen nicer promenades in Europe

The Buda Castle district area is popular for both the tourists & the locals.I loved to walk on its chest nut lined, clean neat not crowded streets. We took the walk from the Fortune street--Fisherman`s Bastion--Tarnok street--Szent Gyorgy street & loved it.The streets have fine houses, green surroundings with the Buda hills dominating.Towards the end is the Ruszurm confectionary were we stopped for a cup of coffee & delicious cakes.

I think this is a part of the Castle area which is not much recommended by the tourist guides as this walkway is on the other side of the Castle hill and faces to the Buda side of the city. If you have time any time of the year scroll down the promenade any enjoy the beauty of the other side of the City :-)
