Address
Neighborhood: District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.

The game boasts about no locks but the puzzle mechanics used in the game aren't really innovative in any way. I would rather solve an interesting riddle and open a padlock than solve the borderline boring puzzles that we found inside of the game. It also felt like there wasn't really that much to solve.

At the first glance the game looks amazing, but when actually viewed up close and manipulated with you just find a lot of cheap material falling apart or things looking unfinished. One of the main objects of the game had a big white plastic card slapped at the bottom of it, not exactly what you would excpet to find in a temple in the middle of a jungle.

On a positive note, the story of the game was very original and probably my favourite part of the experience.

What deeply saddened me was that the most disappointing part of our experience was the gamemaster. We let her know before the game that we are experienced players (just in that day we played another 3 rooms in Budapest) and yet she proceeded to force us a hint after about 10 minutes into the game while we were steadily progressing and were already working on things in the second room. The number of hints we recieved was really unnecessary and we got out after about 40 minutes, even though we often avoided looking at the hints we recieved as we felt we don't really need them yet.

The debriefing didn't save the day as we basically just got our picture taken at the reception and left.

I had my expectations high for this one, but sadly it turned out to be a huge let down. Would not recommend.

This Escaperoom had been maybe the worst one out of 20+ I played so far.. Despite the fact, that lots of stuff needed some make-over, I never had to use so much force to move stuff that was necessary to be moved. We had no chance of asking the gamemaster for help if needed, and quite a few times we were just standing around and couldn't do something, because it was simply not working (mechanism was not functioning, even though the riddle was solved correctly). It was boring, we could hear the loud music from outside, and there was not much to discover (the atmosphere of the room itself was pretty good I have to add). Maybe I would not be so negative, if the gamemaster had been friendly at least. The blond lady was not motivated a slightly bit (hardly explained anything, and the story was obviously not important to her "it's a trasure from nga.. whatever..") . She gave us the feeling of apologizing to her, that we wanted to play a game in the evening (friday night) and she had to work... to put it bluntly: "get lost, I don't want to work because of you, stupid guys" - that was the subtext from her. Did I mention, that she was obviously not watching us play - except for the last 10 min, when she was feeding us with hints every minute..
After all, even though technical stuff was not working, she didn't even ask how we liked it, or offered a discount. Never again will we go there or recommend it to anybody (that customer service was the worst).
And if I can give any tipp for the boss there: train your stuff for at least being friendly to guests. Because with a better treatment, customer might be willing to come back even with some technical defect.

We did the Maya temple with 2 people. The room is beautifully made with creative puzzles. All of them worked mechanical, so it wasn't necessary to find keys or codes for locks. This we really liked.
The end, however, was a bit anti-climatic and confusing. And sometimes after completing a puzzle, we lost time trying to find what had openend and they had to tell us before we could continue. The hosts were polite but not enthusiastic.

Alltogether we had fun and it is playable for 2 people!

We're 4 friends and we came in budapest especially for the escape games. We played approximatively 90 escapes and never we have been welcome like that.

We played legacy of noozaka and Portal (pretty basics rooms but nice to do) and then, Diamond Heist (one of the worst room we ever played)...

Despite the 3 big mistakes that the gamemaster made in this room (The 2 first padlocks already opened, a code which has been changed by the previous team but not checked by the gamemaster) we decided to continue, but our experience was already ruined.

Furthermore, The room was really cheap on decoration. It supposed to be a bank, where are the safes? the security system? Every elements that can make this room looks like a bank ?

The riddles make 3/4 of the time absolutely no sense and .. the only thing that they told us at the end was ''sorry''.

There was no commercial gesture made despite the fact that this room was a complete disaster and that we came 3 times in 2 days (rooms finished in 30-40 min).

You should know, that we waved at the camera to report to the gamemaster all these problems but she never seemed to care to react or even seen us.

At the end, we learned that she was monitoring two rooms in the same times and then sometimes they can monitor 4 rooms simultaneously..

Anyway.. We paid the full price for this room despite our tries to negotiate what seemed legitimate.

The only thing that we'll retain is the unprofessional and inexistent relationship or communication with the customers in every good or bad circumstances.

We were a group of 2 and chose the Portal room. We've done room escapes before, and this one did not disappoint! It was definitely more solving clues and decoding things than just finding locks and keys, so a great change!

You can't ASK for help, but if they see you struggling, a clue will appear under the timer - and we needed the clue a couple of times.

We enjoyed the room we did and would certainly go there to try another room! It was a little hard to even find the business - as it's inside one of the restaurant doors and up the stairs.

I'd highly recommend this business - and they have an English option, so that's perfect for non-Hungarian speakers like ourselves.

We finished in 35 mins so we're super proud! Lots of fun, challenging puzzles and super English friendly if you tick a box on the online booking form to say you're and English speaking team :) we did a southern American gods themed room and it was stunningly decorated and incredibly well made, it was honestly like a tv show.

We played two of the MindQuest rooms and had very different experiences. Diamond Heist was a pretty standard escape room. There were a couple of things in it that were above average but most of it was run of the mill and there are plenty of other options in Budapest that are far superior.

Aztec (which isn't listed on the English language site yet but is language independent - email them to book) was fantastic and I'd highly encourage enthusiasts to play

I've played >120 rooms now and 17 during the visit. Aztec was one of my favourites while we were there and visually one of the most stunning. Lots of fun puzzles, with good chunky physical stuff and some nice mental challenges but more than anything else, just a fun game to be in. If you're in the city I'd highly recommend it.

This was a great family activity for when children had seen enough sites but needed to do something different. As escape room games were invented in Budapest, it seemed really appropriate to try one.

This was the first time we'd ever played one and we chose the diamond theft game. The clues could be a bit cryptic, but with a few hints all of us were able to participate and really enjoyed it.

It's not the easiest to find (it's located on the top floor of an old courtyard building) but the staff were very friendly and very helpful for novices.

We did the Matrix room with 6 people and were always busy doing something, so it had the right amount and difficulty of riddles for our group (I was the only one who had been to an escape room before). The riddles were very diverse which made it even more fun. I can highly recommend this room to a group of friends, colleagues or a family!

This was very good and quite cheap, although Claustrophilia was probably just a little bit better...
