The area
Neighborhood: District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.

Fun experience

We did the Maya temple with 2 people. The room is beautifully made with creative puzzles. All of them worked mechanical, so it wasn't necessary to find keys or codes for locks. This we really liked.
The end, however, was a bit anti-climatic and confusing. And sometimes after completing a puzzle, we lost time trying to find what had openend and they had to tell us before we could continue. The hosts were polite but not enthusiastic.

Alltogether we had fun and it is playable for 2 people!

Great Escape room!
Feb 2020 • Family
We had a little trouble finding the place and when we entered the building, the first thought that came to our mind was “we’ve seen many horror movies that start like this”.

But we were soon greeted by a couple of nice girls and after signing a contract with standard stuff, we entered the Indiana Jones inspired room!

It was great fun and the girls were good to give tips when you needed a bit of help and we made it out with 5 mins to spare!

I liked the thinking outside the box! We were used to working with locks and keys, which wasn't the case in this escape room! Very friendly staff, cool location!

Bad experience, won't come again

This Escaperoom had been maybe the worst one out of 20+ I played so far.. Despite the fact, that lots of stuff needed some make-over, I never had to use so much force to move stuff that was necessary to be moved. We had no chance of asking the gamemaster for help if needed, and quite a few times we were just standing around and couldn't do something, because it was simply not working (mechanism was not functioning, even though the riddle was solved correctly). It was boring, we could hear the loud music from outside, and there was not much to discover (the atmosphere of the room itself was pretty good I have to add). Maybe I would not be so negative, if the gamemaster had been friendly at least. The blond lady was not motivated a slightly bit (hardly explained anything, and the story was obviously not important to her "it's a trasure from nga.. whatever..") . She gave us the feeling of apologizing to her, that we wanted to play a game in the evening (friday night) and she had to work... to put it bluntly: "get lost, I don't want to work because of you, stupid guys" - that was the subtext from her. Did I mention, that she was obviously not watching us play - except for the last 10 min, when she was feeding us with hints every minute..
After all, even though technical stuff was not working, she didn't even ask how we liked it, or offered a discount. Never again will we go there or recommend it to anybody (that customer service was the worst).
And if I can give any tipp for the boss there: train your stuff for at least being friendly to guests. Because with a better treatment, customer might be willing to come back even with some technical defect.

Noo'Zaca: The Biggest Disappointment of Our Trip to Budapest
Jan 2020
The game boasts about no locks but the puzzle mechanics used in the game aren't really innovative in any way. I would rather solve an interesting riddle and open a padlock than solve the borderline boring puzzles that we found inside of the game. It also felt like there wasn't really that much to solve.

At the first glance the game looks amazing, but when actually viewed up close and manipulated with you just find a lot of cheap material falling apart or things looking unfinished. One of the main objects of the game had a big white plastic card slapped at the bottom of it, not exactly what you would excpet to find in a temple in the middle of a jungle.

On a positive note, the story of the game was very original and probably my favourite part of the experience.

What deeply saddened me was that the most disappointing part of our experience was the gamemaster. We let her know before the game that we are experienced players (just in that day we played another 3 rooms in Budapest) and yet she proceeded to force us a hint after about 10 minutes into the game while we were steadily progressing and were already working on things in the second room. The number of hints we recieved was really unnecessary and we got out after about 40 minutes, even though we often avoided looking at the hints we recieved as we felt we don't really need them yet.

The debriefing didn't save the day as we basically just got our picture taken at the reception and left.

I had my expectations high for this one, but sadly it turned out to be a huge let down. Would not recommend.

Amazing value excellent escape room!
Oct 2019 • Couples
We attended as a couple, and played “The Bomb” room, after happening to befriend a local guy who was dating a staff member at mindquest and recommended it. All his other recommendations for food and entertainment were awesome so we tried it.

The room was excellent!
-We managed to escape as a couple, with only 4 or 5 Prompts for when we were silly like overlooking an item we had already unlocked because it was in a dark corner etc.
-It is logically designed and not infuriatingly abstract like some rooms we’ve done back in the uk that try too hard to be different. Some puzzles were really clever and used everyday things we’ve never come across before- like actually using electric items that might be present in the room.
- English language is not an issue. They accommodate really well. The only Hungarian instruction in the room had English also provided. Our host Alexis was great even though it was her first time running the game. They have a policy where you cannot ask for clues, they will give them as they see fit- which actually, though frustrating when you’re inside, is actually really good as they know when to give and time wise how long to let you flounder.
- finally the value is incredible! I have never found better pricing in an escape room before. Credit to mindquest for making excellent escape rooms and not charging a fortune to play!

Really great experience, puts some of the pricier UK escape rooms to shame!

We're 4 friends and we came in budapest especially for the escape games. We played approximatively 90 escapes and never we have been welcome like that.

We played legacy of noozaka and Portal (pretty basics rooms but nice to do) and then, Diamond Heist (one of the worst room we ever played)...

Despite the 3 big mistakes that the gamemaster made in this room (The 2 first padlocks already opened, a code which has been changed by the previous team but not checked by the gamemaster) we decided to continue, but our experience was already ruined.

Furthermore, The room was really cheap on decoration. It supposed to be a bank, where are the safes? the security system? Every elements that can make this room looks like a bank ?

The riddles make 3/4 of the time absolutely no sense and .. the only thing that they told us at the end was ''sorry''.

There was no commercial gesture made despite the fact that this room was a complete disaster and that we came 3 times in 2 days (rooms finished in 30-40 min).

You should know, that we waved at the camera to report to the gamemaster all these problems but she never seemed to care to react or even seen us.

At the end, we learned that she was monitoring two rooms in the same times and then sometimes they can monitor 4 rooms simultaneously..

Anyway.. We paid the full price for this room despite our tries to negotiate what seemed legitimate.

The only thing that we'll retain is the unprofessional and inexistent relationship or communication with the customers in every good or bad circumstances.

Amazing experience! A must in Budapest if you visit with friends
Aug 2019 • Friends
I had a great time at this place. They have several themes and games that you can play. I’ve played the Aztec temple room and the Soviet bomb room. They were both amazing experiences.

The staff is very helpful and the best customer service I’ve ever experienced in Budapest. This was the second time I’ve visited this establishment. The other time was on a trip with my partner and we both loved it too.

It’s inexpensive (around 9€ with the current exchange rates) and the rooms are amazingly decorated and themed. I would strongly recommend doing this activity if you visit Budapest with friends or your partner.

Escape room with friends

Played over 100 games around Europe. Played all the rooms except the Diamond heist here and happily surprised by the room quality. Well worth a visit if you are looking for some escape games to play.

And it’s located next to a ruin pub, so you don’t have to worry about being thirsty.

During our visit in Budapest we visited two room in MindQuest. First we was in Legacy of Noo'zaca. Climat was very cool, puzzles original and interesting, but one of them was a little illogical, so we needed a prompt. Anyway this room was good, so two days later we decided to visit the newest room: P.O.R.T.A.L.. Climat was really fascinating and amazing, puzzles was fantastic, as I remember everything is electronical, but I'm not sure ;) P.O.R.T.A.L. is great and you must visit this room!
