We recently had our third experience with RentaTrabant - and it won't be our last. The tours are tailor-made and we chose to take a Trabant tour to Szentendre and Visegrad. Our guide, Balazs, is a living legend! I've never met anyone with a greater passion and infectious enthusiasm for classic cars. His favourite being the wonderful Trabant!
The tour was, once again, the highlight of our visit to this fantastic city. Will be back again for another tour - hopefully in the very near future!

Step 1 - Visit the website and get some ideas.
Step 2 - adapt the ideas to your taste.
Step 3 - contact the friendly and ultra-efficient office and get an itinerary and price quote. Step 4 - arrive in Budapest an have an unforgettable experience in these iconic classics!
If you have even the slightest interest in the car or it's era - do not miss this opportunity. Worth every single penny (cent) of the cost.

By far, the best activity to do in Budapest, forget sight seeing, rent a Trabant.
We were a group of 6 on a Stag and rented 3 Trabants, we drove them all through Budapest then to the country side where we had lunch. Then drove back, the whole thing took us about 3 hours to complete.
Probably the coolest cars to drive, just make sure you get one with a working sound system, makes a lot better

Me and my partner recently visited Budapest and thought that it would be a great idea to rent a trabant on our first day so that we could see all the sights to help us plan the rest of the trip.
Our trabant turned up on time and all was going well until 15 minutes into the trip the car started to struggle. At first we thought that we had broken down, we understand that these cars are very old, and as my partner owns a classic car himself we are very aware that their reliability is not always great. However, on inspection our driver told us that we had run out of fuel. She proceeded to call a taxi to ask if they could deliver some fuel, which turned out to not be possible. I was then instructed to steer the car as her and my boyfriend pushed it into a parking space!!!
Next she suggested that we were going to hitch hike with a random man to go and get fuel and then we could continue the tour. When I suggested that she ring her boss who could either bring fuel or a drivable car I was told that no one was answering her calls.
We decided at this point that we did not want to continue our tour and our driver left us, in what seemed to be quite a hurry, in the middle of no where in a foreign country!
We did receive an email of apology however, it's not quite what you expect when you are paying good money for such an experience.
Hopefully the company will have learnt through our bad experience that it is extremely important to check how much fuel the car has before setting out on a three hour tour!

The Trabant tour was a highlight of my family's visit to Budapest. Judit is a lovely person and is the perfect tour guide with impressive knowledge of the history and local culture of Budapest. My brother was so excited to get the experience of driving a Trabant! The tour went around the main sights of Budapest, which we requested, but you can tailor the tour to suit your interests.
Me, my mum and my brother thoroughly enjoyed the unique experience and would highly recommend it to everyone visiting Budapest. No better (and more fun!) way to see the city than in a cute Trabant!

The four of us went on the sightseeing tour with 2 Trabants in May. It was definitely the best part of our long weekend in Budapest. Our guides Judit and Matyas were really great. They explained us the basics about the cars and got going very quickly. We have also learnt a lot about the city and sights of Budapest during the 3 hour tour (even myself and I am from Hungary!). I can highly recommend this experience to anyone who would like to know more about the sights and have a feel for what it likes to drive and smell a communist era car. :)

Great fun driving this old school car. Myself and 2 mates did the treasure hunt option... which gave some purpose to our trabant rental. We saw some nice countryside and hilarious car gear set up. Zsofia gave us a quick gear shifting lesson... complete with a diagram and it rally hooked us up.
The company is located on the outskirts of town so you don't have to contend with a lot of city traffic to begin your trip. Well worth doing and test those breaks early and keep you distance to the car ahead of you!!!!

I don’t like regular sightseeing tours so we decided to go on Trabants and explore Budapest in different way. I think it was best choice ever! The cars are hilarious, it was great fun to drive, I felt like Mr. Bean sometimes The guide was great we learned a lot of stories during our tour around the city. We also got lot of tips on bars and pubs and where to shop. It is also interesting to be with locals just to get to know what hungarians are like.
You must do this tour when you are int he city!

Taking a trip on a Trabant looks fun. However Trabants are probably the worst polluter cars ever produced in the last 50 years. So at the end of the day it is nothing else than destroying your environment for fun :-(
