We a group of eight Indians, touring East Europe were at Budapest during early Sept. 2012. To spend a cultural evening in Budapest with Music, Dinner & Hungarian folk-dances, we found from Tripadvisor about Operetta-ship company which organizes these Shows on cruise ship; scope is given at www.operetthajo.hu.
Better to communicate on E-Mail operetthajo@t-online.hu to reserve seats in advance. I will say that one of the best evenings during our three weeks tour in East-Europe countries, was on the 2nd Sept. 2012.
The show is really memorable, performed by marvelous artists having International acclaim. The organization has very rich experience in offering excellent service. We were delighted with the classical folk dances performed in beautiful traditional costumes. The charming girl performing & exotic Belly dance with melodious music looked stunning; an event which is quite unforgettable. The show with Buffet dinner in candle-light gave touch of warmth. The cozy ambiance, ship’s décor with the friendly service made us feel relaxed the comfortable. Being in the moving ship, we were at a loss to choose as to what to watch, the show inside or the beautiful brightly Lit-up panorama of the historical sites of Budapest around the river Danube? The whole show with good spread of delicious Dinner, including dishes for vegetarians, was very reasonable, good for the value. I strongly recommend to fellow tourists to enjoyed this unique show with dinner cruise by Operettaship.

My wife and I decided to try a dinner cruise on the Danube leaving from pier 8 in Budapest. The boat left about 8 pm and returned at 10 pm. It was delightful. The food was delicious and generous. The entertainment was excellent especially the singers and the dancers. The combination made for a wonderful evening. I will do it again. It was well worth the expense.

There are tons of options and choices for Danube cruises and tours on the water while you're in Budapest. You can see your options on TripAdvisor's partner site, Viator. We wanted to do something super special, so we did the dinner cruise with opera show, and we are very glad we did.

The ship is small, so there aren't tons of people on board, which makes it even more special. You feel as if you're experiencing something a lot of people aren't going to. The food is served buffet style, and is very tasty. It's all Hungarian specialties, so you can get samples and tastes of things you've maybe always wanted to try.

The whole trip takes about two hours, but it's jam packed with singing, dancing and other performances the whole time. The performers are very talented, and it's incredible to get to listen to and see different takes on Hungarian culture and songs the whole world knows.

If you want a great water tour, you can't go wrong with the Operettaship.

In general the performance was very good and proffesional. Even the food was better than we could expect from the cruise.
The only dissapoitment that my wife and I reserved VIP tickets and paid 13000 F per each and expected for the private table close to the performance. Actually we had another couple and could not enjoy really romantic show and dinner. If you order not VIP so you may expect even worse location.
In general the ship is not big enough for the type of show and dinner to make this event high style.
The buffet is crowded and makes all conditions not respestable for the people who decided to spend one romantic evening in Budapest.
Completly not reccomded to buy this cruise without dinner. You may feel like cheap guest.
But the show is very reccomneded and the city view is butifull.

A new season of Operetthajo has started again! To visit Budapest without an evening at the Operetthajo is almost impossible. I have been there several times together with members of my family as well as with friends. It has always been very much appreciated. To from a ship at the Danube see the beauty of Budapest pass by while you listen to famous Hungarian music, performed by singers and dansers from the Budapest Opera is magnificent. The food and wine contains the best of Hungarian taste. I wish you a really nice evening at the Operetthajo!

I was visiting Budapest with two friends of mine and we wanted to do something special for our last night. And it was worth it! The trip along the Danube by night was very special and I really enjoyed the show. It had all kinds of music and dance, but I especially liked the folklore parts, as you can only see it in Hungary. The food was delicious, there was a big buffet and a large choice of meals, soups, deserts etc. I would absolutely recommend this trip to everyone who visits Budapest!

We went as a group of 7 and had a good time. The food is buffet style and has starters, mains and later also desserts. The good starters (smoked salmon) run out very quickly, so if you're at the end of the buffet queue, you may not get any. There were two warm mains, one was a beef goulash, which was very good, the other one was a pork in creamy sauce, which I didn't enjoy so much. Prices of the drinks are very reasonable. The music was good, the singers do have a good voice, but we wondered if they really need microphones? They have such powerful voices, they could easily fill the small area of the boat. We thought the microphones made it all a bit too loud.
The boat does 2-3 circles going past the parliament, the castle and under the many bridges. The boat started about half an hour late but still returned on time, so the total trip was not 2 hrs as advertised but only 1,5.
It's a worthwhile experience, but I've done it once and I don't think I will do it again.

Mum fancied a dinner cruise so we booked this through the hotel as there was a show advertised - the food and drink was great, but the entertainment was amazing! Opera singers, belly dancer, traditional dancers, violinist, and some popular show tunes, all in a surprisingly intimate setting, beautiful scenes down the Danube so plenty photo ops. BTW listen to the compere - I was fascinated at the fluidity of her speech in so many different languages!

Booked this as a treat for my husband on our visit to Budapest and we were so glad we did! The food was great, the entertainment gave us a taste of Hungary and the views - just wow! Budapest by night - probably prettier than Prague even!

The only slight negative is I felt that the drinks were fairly pricey! However, we would certainly recommend and if we ever visited again, this would be a definite on our agenda.

The food was so great, the singers and the performers were so talented! I loved the show, if I can I will buy a ticket again! I think Budapest is safe to visit even in the serious situation which is in Europe. So if you got excited from the idea to travel in Hungary, begin it with Budapest and Operetthajó! =)
