St. Michael's Church, a small church in size but with stunning interior design and decorations.
Dec 2019
During our walk on the Vaci utca street, towards the covered market, we were surprised to discover a church on Budapest's main shopping street.
My wife and I entered in order to visit and we were impressed by the church which was not large in its structure and our surprise was great.
Although the church was small in size, its interior design and decoration were incredible.
Prominent on the wall against the entrance, on the second-floor terrace, there was a beautiful church organ. The murals and frescoes as well as the furniture and sculptures were very impressive.
In short, an amazing and unplanned surprise.
In connection with the organ, a series of organ and choir concerts are held throughout the year.
Anyone interested can find out on place regarding dates, prices and plans.

Beautiful Church Built in the 1700's
Nov 2019
St Michael's Church was built by the Dominicans back in the 1700's. It is not that large in size but still beautiful with a notable organ used for many choir and organ concerts. We could not attend one but a sign posted 2019 prices of 18 euros or 16 for students/seniors.

Almost missed it
Dec 2019 • Couples
Set amongst the shops, you can easily miss St. Michael’s. But make sure you don’t. Beautiful on the inside, I would have loved to have seen a concert there.

A Bit Snooty
Jun 2019
My choir was planning to do a concert at this church but was turned down by the priest because our repertoire was not up to his "standards." Unfortunately, after traveling to Budapest to see the church and meet with a representative, this happened. Not impressed. Wondering if this church is mainly about performances over what churches really should be about.

An OK church.

As Vaci street is already somehow decorated for Christmas, the church seemed a bit gloomy this time.

Classical Concerts
Sep 2019
We accidentally found this delightful beautiful old church and merely went in to say a prayer. Imagine our surprise when we discovered that they are linked to The Opera House and perform 3 different classical concerts in The Church each week (Mon, Wed & Sat). Plus their organ and singing at daily mass is a concert in itself.

Excellent baroque and classical concert in St. Michael's Church Budapest
Oct 2019
Expressive and brilliant first violinist Csongor Veer and the Budapest St. Michael's String Orchestra filled this beautiful European church with the interlacing music of the baroque. Better than the three concerts we attended in Vienna. The six artists played together with the pace and timing required to bring baroque music alive. Director and second violinist Bertalan Veer was great in his solos as well. I went home and looked up these musicians because they were so fine.

Beautiful Church for Great Concert
Aug 2019
We have passed by this downtown church on Vaci Utca many times and have noted that they offer concerts several days per week. Now, churches were designed to highlight music and song, so we had to give it a go this trip. The concerts are not cheap (up to 10,000 HUF for what is called VIP seating right at the front of the church).

We were treated to some great music by some fine musicians and the sonics in the church were great.

If you have an evening free, the concerts are at 8pm so you could do an early supper before or a late supper after, there are plenty of good restaurants in the area.

Beautiful church
Jul 2019
Visited this beautiful Roman Catholic Church looking for the traditional Latin Mass on our first day in Budapest. Celebrated at 10am on Sunday mornings. Returned on Sunday with a congregation of about 130 people.
