About
Szimpla Farmers' Market: market, brunch and community place. The market has been organized every Sunday in Szimpla since 2012. Every week we have approximately 1500-2000 local and international visitors and 30-40 farmers, mainly from the proximity of Budapest, offering their own produces. Our farmers must meet very strict requirements, our staff regularly checks how the products are made at the farms. Our vendors offer cheese, sausage, fruits, vegetables, spreads, honey, chutneys, juices, organic and non-organic, yet small farm produced delicacies in a great variety. On our first floor we offer an all you can eat brunch from the produces of the market. We have live music, and every week a different NGO cooks and raises money for charity, where you can taste what they have cooked for donations.

Address
Neighborhood: District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.

Awesome way to spend a Sunday morning
Feb 2020
One of our favourite outings during our Budapest stay occurred regularly on Sundays when we would visit the Szimpla Farmers Market. This event is held in one of Budapest’s most famous ruin bars. This is a building which is literally too far gone to be saved, but apparently not quite so far gone as to stop people running a business from it. We’re 99% sure the ‘elfin safety’ crowd don’t get a lot of work done in Hungary, but it didn’t stop us visiting and revisiting this market. Great artisan bread, homemade peanut butter & honey (in the same jar!), cheese scones - all scrumptious. Definitely an awesome way to spend a Sunday morning

Absolutely love this place. Live music, great bars, friendly people. Lots of food to taste and buy. If you are in Pest on a Sunday go here. Fantastically bohemian.

Great idea!

Visiting the most popular ruinbar during daylight is cool, especially when you have all these markets around. Good program for all generations. You can try some Hungarian specialities and take them back home as a souvenir. :)

Great place to visit
Jan 2020
There are live band performing, and many farmers selling vegetables, cheese, bread, honeys, jams, etc. If you go to the 2nd floor, you can have the lunch there where many different kind of traditional Hungarian dishes are served.
Many people were talking about the souvenirs to bring back home, and I chose the honey other than parika or tokaji. The honeykeeper I met at the market provided eight different kinds of honey that are locally produced. Acacia honey seemed to be only available in Hungary, and it tasted yummy.
Even if you are not looking for souveniors, it is still worth a tour to check on this market, as the decoration and its atmosphere there is awesome!

Lovely food available on the main floor, but if you are expecting any more remember it is just a market :) Lots of samey samey tourist souvenirs on the upper floor.
