We visited Szentendre for a day trip. Such a beautiful town but quite touristy.

We used the train to get there from Budapest.

On the way home so we come see some scenery and perhaps some sunset views we opted for this boat back to Budapest. There is open air seating upstairs and closed seating downstairs. Scenery is lovely returning.

Boat was quite comfortable and with a small bar.

Boat l;eft and arrived as scheduled. There is only one trip each way per day.

I would certainly recommend this service.

Three hour cruise complete with champagne, good food, singing and dancing. A live music ensemble and two singers made it most enjoyable. The food was excellent. Try their special sponge cakes with chocolate sauce and fruit.

Most of the reviews of Mahart’s cruises that I see here are for the dinner cruise. We used their round trip service to the artist village of Szentendre. Overall it was a great experience that I definitely recommend.

First the positives:
- It’s a great way to see the Danube Bend and much cheaper than the tours that take you by van to 3 bend cities including Szentendre
- Service was good when we picked up tickets and I was amazed how well they stuck to the schedule. Depart Budapest at 10:30 arrive Szentendre at noon, then depart Szentendre at 5 PM arrive Budapest at 6 PM, everything was right on schedule
- If you get a seat upstairs you have great views as you exit the city and later of the Danube bend. The temperature is comfortable even on a warm day since you are cooled by a the breeze. Seats upstairs are 2 person wood benches with backs on both sides of the boat. They have a thick foam cushion and we found them comfortable thru the full 90 minute ride.-Szentendre is amazing, even if a bit touristy. It’s like the kind of village Disney tries to create. It’s a nice place to relax for a day away from all the sights and vacation frenzy of Budapest
- Boats have restrooms and a snack bar

Now the challenges:
- if you get stuck sitting downstairs it’s muggy and hot on a warm day. It was 77 degrees for our return trip and the downstairs was very uncomfortable. The seats are nicer than upstairs but it lacks the airflow. If you are stuck downstairs, go to the front of the boat. The first few rows get some benefit from air conditioning-it’s hot but not as hot as further back
- The return from Szentendre is crowded. It contains all the folks who took the cruise at 10;30, plus lots of the van tour groups get dropped off here and then ride the boat back. We had one boat go out at 10:30 but two were required for the return. Also be aware that they start loading earlier than you would expect, around 4:15. The reason the crowd size matters is the more people, the better chance you get stuck downstairs. Good news is the return is with the current, so you get back in just 1 hour

The positives definitely outweigh the negatives

The Danuba cruise is great at night. It is definitely an attraction you should go to when you are in Budapest.
But I advise you not to do it with Mahart Passnave.
The promise you a free drink and an audio guide, but when you are on board the ship, you get nothing of it, and there is nobody to talk to.

Extremely unprofessional. I asked for the circle line and was told immediately that I should „learn how to read“ and that their website says its suspended since 2 days ago (I checked the website again) and asked the lady at the counter of she could show me where it says that the line ended, because i still couldn’t find it. She then called me „stupid“ and that her version website says so. Definitely not booking anything here and cannot recommend it at all!

We have just returned for what should have been a glorious Tauck Danube trip .
The food ,wine ,music and ambiance was terrific
We took Jewish private tours in Budapest And Prague .
Unfortunately all the guides when had during our trip where less than honest with their facts .while I realise people have different opinions , the facts still remain the same .Altering the facts and dishing out this "whitewashed " history left me with an extremely bitter taste in my mouth. I had paid for a trip and was being fed fiction by paid guides in these various countries . The victims who had died suffered so much and here we are 2015 deleting and denying their loss of property .We are therefore killing them a second time
And we the travellers from around the world are facilitating this
Let us ask of our guides to stick to the facts as they were not as they wished them to be
Sincerely
Merle Horwitz

If I were to book this again, I would save myself 10,000 and go for the drinks option only. Dinner was average. It was also a big selling adventure - a photographer came round, the band came round - all asking for your money. Yes, the cruise was move but I would go for the cheaper drinks and cruise and find a nicer dinner elsewhere for half the price.

Some of the reviewers here are clearly offering a review of something else. There was no distant check in, no whitewashed history and the cheapest bottle of house wine was only 3000Ft.
This trip is a lovely, romantic, hopefully moonlit, dinner cruise through the centre of one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It is great value for money.
When I took this cruise last Wednesday, the magic began with the welcoming glass of sparkling wine. The food was plentiful as well as varied and surely had something to suit everyone. On such a warm evening, I particularly appreciated the chilled soup. The beef goulash just melted in the mouth. The fruit was sweet and fresh. The tables were all set before arrival with good cutlery and had fine white table cloths with lantern style candles. Our wine was placed in a chilled ice bucket after the customary tasting for approval. The performing singers and the dancing added splendidly to the ambience.
Viewing the floodlit, public builidngs of Budapest from the opposite bank bears no comparison to viewing them from the Danube. I know this, because I had done a walking tour on the previous evening.
For me, this dinner cruise was just as romantic, if not more so, as a trip down the Seine. I had a motive for choosing such a beautiful cruise. Having created the right atmosphere, I proposed to my boyfriend towards the end of the trip and, thank God, he said "igen".
I shall always treasure my memory of that lovely evening.

To say that the views are gorgeous is a gross understatement. Choose the 7:30 tour where the twilight turns to night, so you can see the city without and with the lights.
The food is plentiful and is very good and authentic for a buffet. Desserts were particularly good. Service was good, music as well.
While the restaurant experience falls short of 5-star, the overall trip may be a memory for a lifetime (it will be for me who grew up in this city decades ago)

Finally, it deserves 5 stars due to numerous dampened reviews on this site that are clearly about other cruises. There are many other cruises that are not listed on tripadvisor, yet that is no reason to rate this one based on experience gained at those. Rating another cruise under this entry is like rating a different restaurant on the same street - will not serve justice.
Just a few apparently misplaced comments: this cruise has no guide, so they cannot falsify history; you can buy tickets right at the dock and board the ship 20 yards from the ticket office, so there is no running around; the cheapest bottle of wine is less than €10, not 18, etc, etcetera

The best way to see the city is from the river and the best time is by night. It is very suggestive and useful because an audioguide in many languages tells you the history of the city in a very interesting way.
