Address
Neighborhood: Gellért Hill
If you want to treat your camera to some amazing scenery, Gellért Hill is a must on your itinerary. A funicular journey from the Chain Bridge along the hillsides provides a fast connection between Buda and Pest, hoisting visitors to panoramic vistas. Once on top of the hill, you’ll find the Citadel dominate the landscape with its imposing 19th century construction, a site that’s hard to keep your eyes on without being distracted by the phenomenal view over the Danube and the eight bridges crossing. Once on Gellért Hill however, one mustn’t miss the famous Gellért Baths. Budapest is renown for its thermal waters and its baths, and the Gellért Baths are housed in an impressive art nouveau structure. Its interior design, with its many mosaics, recalls the preceding relationships the city has had with healing springs and saunas, traditionally used within this neighborhood since the Ottoman Empire.

    Excellent
Excellent place to visit. £19 for unlimited access all day to the saunas, spas and Turkish baths. Also got a reasonably priced massage. The cafe is delicious and cheap. 10/10 would recommend highly. Also quieter than some of the more popular tourist baths.

traditional and modern at the same time
very surprised to see the modern side of these baths as we were expecting a really traditional experience but in fact the other side of the building marked steam rooms is very old and traditional and very beautiful. The other side has similar pools but modern and the roof top terrace with spa out there overlooking the river is sensational. Good value as well.

    A unique experience
This is an old bath house and it is just soooo different. It’s quaint and it almost makes you feel you are stepping back in time. Four baths (different temperatures) around a central hot bath which is under the dome. It’s really pretty. Sauna and steam room off the side of the baths and relaxations rooms and massage rooms are available. Take a towel as you have to buy one for about £7. Note it does smell - but that is normal for thermal baths. It is Ladies day on Tuesday. Otherwise I think it’s entirely men only.

    Very Authentic
This is a very authentic bath in Budapest. The staff warms up if you’re really warm to them. Not easy to navigate.. stay with your group or give clear directions where you’re going because there’s many levels. Maybe check out baths that is Ghellant or Gallant (sp) friends went there and enjoyed. Bring towel and sturdy flip flops. Bathing cap only if you’re going to swim laps or want to stand out : )

    Chilling
The cold and warm pool is great for relaxation. The pool outside is fine. Cabins are also fine and friendly. Hair dryers are not heating well. For the price they should give a towel and a pair of sandals. The Turkish was our favorite spot. Sauna was great too.

    Delightful!
Delightful! Our second bath in Budapest and we loved it. The facility was very clean. We were there early on a Saturday morning and it was clearly more locals than not. Lots of older gents and ladies in groups together in the Turkish baths. There were plenty of different options and since it was Saturday the Turkish bath was co-ed. We loved the rooftop pool where we could look out over the Danube and the beautiful winter sun was glorious. There is a bar and restaurant we did not try but the entire place was clean and well-run. I could have spent all morning there but we had to leave to continue to explore the city. I highly recommend this over the more famous baths.

    Relax revive refresh
Had a lovely time. There are several negative reviews but my experience was very positive. The front desk was helpful and the gentleman spoke English. He explained to me where to go to change and how the entrance band worked. he then explained again to my friends without any attitude. In the locker area someone showed us where to go and how to get to the baths. It is a maze, but there is excellent signage in English. The Panoramic pool was lovely... they all were. Some things to know: 1. On Tuesdays the Turkish bath section is only women but other sections are coed. 2. I wish I'd brought a second towel to leave in my locker as the towel I brought got very wet. 3. There are bodies of all shapes and sizes, and bathing suits to match. Don't feel embarrassed by how you look... no one cares but you. Can't wait to come back to budepest and go again.

Amazing bath and be careful of cameras in the changing room
Great traditional part of the thermal bath. I also liked the view from the outside pool, even thouh it is pretty small one. The wellness area is not so glamorous. Bring your towel and flip flops. I did not like cameras in the changing room. That was a bit too much.

    Brilliant Experience
Absolutely brilliant day out. Booked online and was confused by the ticket options so went for the full ticket. When you walk in, on the right side are the thermal baths, which vary in temperature. On the left side is the main swimming pool, further pools with bubbles and fountains, steam and sauna rooms, the rooftop pool, and restaurant. We had such a relaxing day here, would definitely visit again. Although would probably skip the thermal part and go to the pools instead. We shared 1 cabin between us, and the wristband you're given is used to lock and unlock it, you can do this multiple times. You get changed and leave your stuff in it. Reminded us of a confession box in church!

We are absolutely spoilt, living in the Majestic, Historical - City of Budapest, Hungary, the number of Thermal Furdo's, that are available for us to visit and enjoy.
Rudas Furdo, is a delight to visit.
It's facilities for ALL, inclusive of children and those with disabilities, makes your visit joyous and relaxing.
It is a public facility, that is operated, in a displayed form, of total professionalism.
Staff are polite, obliging and courteous, present, for your safety and well being.
They are available, if required, to make your visit an unforgettable experience.
Cleanliness - is factorially noticeable, the attention to detail paid by staff.
This includes, in these testing and challenging times we ALL live, prior to entry, that ALL undergo a body temperature check, which is not of an invasive process.
We encourage ALL, when visiting our Home and Capital City of Budapest, Hungary and numerous other thermal facilities spread throughout Hungary, that you make time to visit them.
You will have a lifetime joyous ever lasting memorable experience.
Stay Well - ALL.

This place looks amazing on the pictures and the structure is actually really good. But unfortunately the reality is a bit different: really crowded and full of very annoying teenagers, which the only interest is on taking selfies or doing stories on Instagram. It is not relaxing, since all the pools are full of people acting basically like if they were on a pool party. This place is too small for the amount of people that they are allowing to get in there. If you are looking for a real thermal bath don’t go there. If you want to showcase pictures on Instagram pretending you are on a cool pool party, that’s your place. Besides of that, in order to move from the thermal area to the wellness zone you have to walk wet in the middle of a bar. Totally not a premium experience! This would be better place if the stuff controls better the capacity and also set a few rules in order to access the pools.

Warning if you get stressed easy don’t come here. The customer service is nonexistent and signage terrible. However, if you take note of the advice then it can be a very pleasant experience.

1. Thermal = traditional Turkish side and we went on a men only day. Wellness = modern spa for men and women every day (pretty boring). Personally the only reason to get a ticket for both sides is to spend 15 minutes in the rooftop pool.

2. Once you buy your ticket you are given a wristband which gives you access everywhere. My partners stopped working and we were effectively stuck for 20 minutes until someone decided to help us!!!

3. Don’t go downstairs when you arrive, that is the modern unisex changing room. Instead go through the curtain/turnstile, pick up your loin cloth to cover your modesty and enter the traditional changing room. You quickly realise you stand out more in swimming shorts than the loin cloth so go with tradition. You will see a tablet sized screen on the wall - put your wristband against it and it will activate a changing cabin for you which is also your locker.

4. On the website it says bring everything you need. In reality you don’t really need flip flops, cotton sheets, used as towels, are available next to the cold plunge pool and shower gel is provided.

5. Massages- I would avoid a massage here. As a trained masseuse I found the pressure and technique ridiculous. I booked a thermal massage which uses soap and thermal water. Effectively I was beaten up on a marble slab for 45 minutes. Definitely not relaxing and now my back is bruised. The images on the website do not correspond to reality.

Overall, I would say follow my advice, which is from the perspective of the men only days and you will be fine. We actually had an enjoyable couple of hours once we understood the rules of the baths.

Rudas bath is only a 10 mins walk from Gellert bath .Most tourists come to Rudas head straight to the rooftop bath but I only wanted to sample the Turkish bath which was first built here almost 5 hundred years ago.
I went on Friday morning at 9am and paid a special rate of around £10 for the Turkish bath alone. I was given a wristband and was allocated a cabin which is small and will only fit 1 person at a time. The main octagonal thermal pool (at 36 degree c which is lovely) is stunning under a dome with starry roof, there are 4 plunge pools in each corner, with water temperatures ranging from 28 degree c to 40 degree c. There are also steam rooms in the same location, the locals love using the steam room then plunge into the cooler pools or use the shower.
I am glad I went on a men only day for the Turkish bath for the authentic Hammam experience (Friday until 10.45am, other days are Mon, Weds and Thurs), which is mainly for locals without amorous adolescents canoodling as it happened at Gellert baths.
The staff is helpful and friendly and the lifeguard actually keeps watch over the pool.
The place is clean enough for me. Again bring your own towel and flip flops. On men only day the locals wear the loincloth (free at the Turkish bath) but you could wear swimming trunks instead.
I totally enjoyed the Turkish bath and will come back again

We booked our "all-area" tickets online and the "check-in" was fluent without any problems. Then we needed a minute to see where the dressing rooms are, but as soon as we understood the guiding signs it was all easy to find. The dressing rooms are mixed but there are cabins where you change your clothes. Your remaining stuff can be stored in a lockable cabin, which you can lock and unlock with the wristband you get at the check-in counter. If you then have everything done you are ready to go. In general the Bath can be separated into four parts. Wellness, Swimming, Spa and the turkish bath. The Wellness section consists of five different pools (one hot, one cold and two medium temperatured pools and the rooftop bool). Nothing special here beside the good view from the rooftop pool. The swimming area is simply a nice 15 meter long swimming pool in a rather antique looking architecture. BUT a swimming cap is required! The Spa section consists of four Saunas ( steam, finnish, pretty normal (~50°) and one medium). There is also a pool with cold water and a "salt cabin". Everything was pretty clean, but sadly many disrespected the guide line which says that you have to take towel with you in the sauna and use it as a cover between you and the wooden benches. Nevertheless it was good and clean. And you have to wear clothing wear. The last part was the turkish bath which is for women and men together only accessible from friday 10:45 to sunday. It looks amazing and has 5 different pools with temperatures varying from 38 to 42°C. Moreover there are also one hot air chamber and one steam chamber. If you want to have a bit more privacy you need to be there as early as possible because it gets more and more crowded over the day. The price is very reasonable.

I went on a Tuesday (females only day), it cost 4,000ft for the thermal baths, you get a wrist band to get into the cabin, you get a bed sheet and apron, so bring your own towel and slippers. Shower before getting into the baths and sauna. There are 5 pools ranging from 42 degrees to 28 degrees and an immersion pool of 14 degrees. 2 saunas, a steam one and a hot coal one. It was such a relaxing experience, went from the hottest bath to the coldest one, also to the saunas. The best one for me was the 36 degree bath, I could take a nap in there lol. And also the 30 degrees bath. I think I spent about 2hrs in there, and was totally worth the experience. There’s also a swimming pool, rest area and restaurant.

Went with my wife Friday evening as it was recommend in most reviews. The bath itself is nice, facilities are clean and well maintained. But I felt very commercially / made for the mass. We didn’t get an authentic feeling and wished we opted for a smaller, perhaps more traditional and less overrun bath. The pool on the roof top is nice, with views of the river and city. But with so many people having loud conversations it killed the atmosphere...

This was our first spa/bath experience in Budapest. We thought it was one of the ancient traditional Turkish bath type. Well... The lovely Turkish bat you see on the pictures and the website is only for men. But nobody told you that!
So you have the choice between two small hot bath and a far too hot one on the ground floor plus the small panoramic one outside on the roof. Not really what we expected. Very disappointing indeed.
So if you have only one spa to go, don’t choose this one!

Me and my mum pre booked a package through get your guide, which was suppose to be a three course meal and spa access. When we arrived they were very unwelcoming they told us to come back tomorrow as they had a private function that evening although we had booked a meal at 6pm.. We explained we were going back home the next day and were unable to return, quite frankly they couldn’t give a cr*p! I’ve never met workers so rude!
As we didn’t receive the experience we were looking forward too we requested our money back and were told they would only refund us £52 out of the £130. Personally I’m not happy with a part refund after the way we were treated and an awful end to our holiday. A horrible experience and complete waste of time.

Unlike the other bath houses, this house remains traditional and is men only Mon, wed and Thursday. Women only on Tuesday and mixed from 11am on Friday throughout the weekend.

We spent a good few hours there chilling.

Men only day means you get to wear the traditional bathing suit. Which is basically a white small apron. This covers your front but leaves your behind exposed to all. But hey, it's how they have done it for hundreds of years so just go with it. You spin your apron around to sit on in the steam or sauna rooms.

On arrival you are given a wrist fob. Scan it to get through the turnstile, collect your apron and then put your fob against the machine on the wall and it allocates you a cabin to get changed in and leave your belongings in whilst you chill.

There are also huge bug sheets you collect when you have fi ished, so you can go and lie down in the relaxing area. Then use them to dry off.

Great authentic experience and felt so relaxed afterwards
