The choice of a cabin or locker! Cabins allow your own personal changing room and you can lock your things in there and the locker is just a small locker with Changing rooms! There are 5 thermal pools (temps between 35-40 degrees) and one swimming...More

Lets just get to it. This thermal bath is gorgous! Like someone transplanted a greek temple a thousand years ago and made a few updates and they just left it like that. The bath had a central swimming pool (bath caps MANDATORY!! Can be bought...More

These spas are wonderful. Beautifully decorated and definitely worth a visit. Prices in the buffet are higher and you only pay for the card.

Our time at the Gellert baths was a unique experience for sure. However, there were lots of things that took away from our experience - mostly a lack of amenities. I still recommend this Spa as a place to visit, so my tips to come...More

The main outside pool was drained when I visited. I thought it was a rip off to be honest. There were internal pools and they were ok. One irritating factor was everyone with selfie sticks trying to get the perfect photo for their Instagram.

We had a great time here but be warned that you do need a swimming cap if you want to use the main pool - you can buy them there, we didn’t want extra expense as the entry itself is quite a lot so we...More

We bought a day ticket with a locker. The private cabins are small and not really worth the money as you can just change in one for free then put your stuff in a locker. We didn’t get to go outside due to snow. But...More

Went to a few spas in Budapest and this was by the best! The service is fairly freinds at the desks and there's a high standard of English. Visited twice and early morning is definitely the best it's calm, less crowded and gives you that...More

We brought our own, so I can't honestly tell you. Maybe you should contact the spa, because everything else can be rented or purchased?

Very expensive, bring your own swimming caps because they make you pay 1000 forint for one cap. You only need the caps for the pool though, so if you only plan to use the baths you'll be fine.

Trip to Budapest in February 2015 (31 Replies)
I am planning to visit Budapest in February 2015 (between 9th to 13th) with my girlfriend. I believe, Budapest will be very cold in February. But, I also believe that there will be lesser crowd during winter and this would help us to visit places at our own pace. Below is the schedule (draft) that we have put up and we would surely need the help of fellow-members to provide their valuable inputs on (1) schedule, whether its manageable or too hectic; (2) hotel that will be central to visit...More

I think your plan is not hectic, it's reasonable. In my opinion you can plan something more for day 2, you planned too much time for the Castle area, it can be done in less time (you planned 7-10 hours, I think 5-6 hours would be enough for that). After that you can stroll on the Dunakorzo and Vaci Street (Vaci utca) for example. Do you mean 5000-8000 HUF for one person, or for a room (two persons)? For this price you can get mainly hostels in the city center (but they can be OK). You...More

Just wanted to say Thank You to the Budapest TA community! (0 Replies)
Greetings! Safely back home after 4 days in Budapest and 6 days in Transylvania. I just wanted to say thank you to all who have answered a lot of my questions and helped to shape this amazing trip. I also used a lot of resources on TA to find information about various attractions, hotels and restaurants. Without the help of TA I would never have been able to come up with all the ideas for our itinerary! Thank you so much! I have to say that we fell in love with Budapest, and I...More

Romantic package at the Gellert Spa (2 Replies)
Hi, I am travelling to Budapest in january with my husband for our 10th wedding anniversary. I have just seen that the Gellert Spa do a 'Romantic Package' consisting of private baths, massage and dinner/cruise on the Danube. I was just wondering if anyone has used this package? Is it worthwhile or are there similar/better experiences elsewhere etc... Also, looking for a nice restaurant for our anniversary evening (our arrival day) I am vegetarian, we like most foods types - Italian is a...More

Hi angieb, The Gellert is a bit tired in my opinion. It's a classic and has a storied history, and walking through the doors will certainly take you back in time a bit. I do,not recommend the Gellert, nor a river cruise with dinner mi am one of those that always say that Budapest has too many fine kitchens to eat on a boat. But do however, take a river cruise. One around sun down is fantastic as the city architecture comes to life in full illumination. I have used the Legenda boat in the...More
