- Ashleigh L8 contributionsInteresting displays BUT no card payment and no modern agriculture exhibitsCash only/no card was a frustrating start, as couldn’t find a ATM nearby and it made payment difficult. Overall an interesting collection from early period to about the 1890s period. It doesn’t really have much related to mechanisation and modern technology or the Hungary agricultural industry today. Overall Some areas very good, some areas could be improved.Visited December 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten December 20, 2023
- PavlaPavlaChrudim, Czech Republic7,538 contributionsHorses, wild and domestic animals, fishing & huntingThe museum building itself is a real gem. Beautiful architecture, impressive interior, huge stained glass window. The exhibition is about animals, agriculture, but also fishing and hunting. The National Horse Exhibition is very nice. At the time of my visit, there was a temporary exhibition of objects from utility collections, which are rarely publicly exhibited, partly because of their monetary value (gold, silver, pearls) and partly because of conservation problems (for example a gorgeous silver cup from the well-known jeweler Adolf Laky).Visited May 2024Traveled soloWritten May 8, 2024
- Clément3 contributionsImpressive building exhibition a bit old school but very informativeEven if it isn't a subject that really interests you the building itself is definitely worth visiting! The museum is about Hungarian agriculture from the neolithic to the beginning of mechanisation. There is also an exhibition about Hungarian wine in the basement, about forestry, fishing and hunting. All in all the exhibition is really well made with a lot of information but a bit old school.Visited September 2024Traveled with friendsWritten September 3, 2024

The Hungarian Agricultural Museum is worth visiting.
The interior of the building is so impressive. The exhibition is a little more outdated but it is enjoyable. You should also see the cellar in which the wine making process through the ages is explained.

The building is really impressive and the exponations are interesting. Texts are also available in English and German. Many things appear to be set up since a long time without redesign, but in the essence a nice place to visit

The comprehensive museum ticket allows access to the two adjoining towers. The museum is about the development of agriculture, forestry, and related industries and the social history of hungary. It provides a good window into magyar culture, the ordinary day-to-day history, not the history of battles and upheavals. I found the wing to the left of the kiosk as you enter the most interesting. If you see a large yurt, you’re there. Nearby you find some panels explaining in good detail the history of land reforms, taxes, and other changes that affected ordinary magyars. It shed light on the grander themes of hungarian history for me.

The agricultural museum is located in Vajdahunyad castle in Vidam park. The entrance fee is 1200 HUF or 1700 HUF for a ticket that includes entrance to the gatehouse tower. The museum is closed on Mondays and opens at 10AM other days. It closes at 4PM on weekdays and 5 on weekends. The main entrance is up impressive steps to a huge door in the courtyard. Across from the chapel is another entrance with a ramp for level access.

I gave this two stars for photographic options as the building is quite photogenic.
We went into the main building to bw confronted by the pay desk so we purchased two tickets each and chose the gate house tower and the apostles tower once purchased we where told the English tour starts at 2pm come to the meeting point.
We duely turned up at 2pm to find about 10 other's there as well. The guide then said follow me and off we charged is the best description almost running pace through the cafe up the stairs to 1st floor.
He unlocks the door to the apostles tower and up we all run past the stuffed animals & paintings no idea what that was about and he certainly wasn't going to tell you and into the roof we went most of us out of breath where there was wonderful views of roof tops again not a clue and guide wasn't going to say and then back down the stairs we all went.
On reaching the 1st floor again door was locked and he ushered us into this hall then took off down the stairs and left us all so we all wandered around these rooms filled with stuffed animals and antlers then some boats n fish then wine making finishing up with ye olde worlde "still" chain saws and tractors non of us had a clue what it was about as it was all hungarian which is why we were all on the English tour so what a complete waste of time and effort the Americans where really not happy and I don't blame them.
On the way out ooooh there's the guide who then tells us we go by ourselves up the Gatehouse tower!
Again joke!
On to the terrace we go shabby to say the least and as for going up the Gatehouse tower well ever so slightly miss lead you are only allowed above the gate and no further so "up the tower" is not actually correct.
Would I go again ... definitely not
Would I recommend. .. definitely not
I have to say this is our second time to Budapest the 1st time was great but that was 3 years ago this time I feel I have a sign above me "BRITISH CON ME" we seem to have to check change constantly, remind sellers about that 200 huf change that you haven't given me, check prices as they seem to change on a British accent, 2 attractions we have been to this and both treated us with distaine. Its a real shame as the 1st time around we loved it this time it's left a bit of a taste and I have no idea why.

The structure is stunning and absolutely worth the visit - however the exhibits themselves are a little worn and less interesting. Still decent, but nothing special.

This museum has excellent exhibits on all things agriculture and nature in a beautiful baroque wing of City Park's castle. The exhibits cover diverse topics from farming, wine, forestry, horses and horse racing, wild animals and birds. The children loved it, especially the wild birds, nests and birds egg displays and had to be chased out at the 5pm closing time.

We visited this nice place in the park on Easter. There were many stalls with food and souvenirs, playing nice music and it was so nice.

The museum was closed today, Tuesday March 19, 2019. We were there a little past 11 am. There were no signs that said it would be closed. Does anyone know why, and if it will reopen this week?
Written March 20, 2019
Never mind. I found the answer on the website. It’s not straightforward to find. They were having technical problems and opened at 12.
