Not the easiest location to get to and not a must do in Budapest but if you have a spare day worth having a look at.

We were quite taken by this in the tourist book as it looked and advertised as a real wow factor. Unfortunately when we got there it was the size of a small park with statues randomly put around, which are impressive but that's it. It...More

It was so boring that I actually felt like I was back in Czechoslovakian market place during the socialist era - you can neither buy nor see anything. The guy selling tickets was the peak of the exhibit so enjoy the time at his desk.

If I consider that it takes about 45 minutes to get there with public transport from city center, I have to say that it is one of the most boring things I've ever seen. There is about 15 statues in post apocalyptic area located next...More

The Memento Park is a fantastic break from Budapest. It is easy (and cheap) to reach on the local bus (number 150) although this takes longer than the tour organised buses. I would recommend getting on one of the tours of the park. The group...More

The Hungarians understand that those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it. Unlike other peoples who toppled oppressive regimes, the Hungarians did not destroy many of the statues that had been erected during the Communist Era. Instead, they removed these statues from where...More

This is the place to come if you want to walk round staring at communist statues! Easy to reach on the bus 150, which goes on to Campona shopping centre from there (could combine this with Tropicarium if you have kids). I'll admit I can...More

When I went to Budapest I had been travelling Eastern Europe for some weeks already and decided to visit things that I hadn't seen before. Some local friend gave me a precious tip and suggested the visit to memento Park. But don't create any illusion...More

This unusual exhibit has 42 carefully chosen statues from the communist era. It helps you to understand Hungary's difficult recent history and is beautiful in its own right. Easy to access on the metro and the bus. Get the guide for 1500 HUF which has...More

This was a great experience to learn about all these marvelous statues from the soviet times. Took the guided tour, which was very educational and makes the experience feel more "real", especially when it is snowing outside. Huge statues and amazing historical stories behind them....More

Yes, I think it was 1500, and the shop (in keeping with good communistic tradition!) had cheap water and stuff. The guidebook is an absolute must.
