I expected more from the island , but it was still worth the visit . You can arrive by the hop on hop off boat cruise if you purchase the bus tour . The fountain was somewhat impressive and the garden areas somewhat pleasant , but not a lot else really .

Beautiful place, much bigger than we anticipated, we hired bicycles for an hour and has a great time viewing the gardens and small animal enclosure. lovely for a picnic or just to chill and take in the sights alongside the river.

Was really excited to visit the island and had heard nice things about it, but it was full of construction and the pool on it appeared to be closed for construction or maintenance which was a shame. Although its pretty, a nice place to have a sit down and the musical fountain is cool.

I usually write very positive reviews, so perhaps we were very tired after a long day traveling around Buda, but when we got off the tram and wandered into Margitsziget (Margaret's Island) we had hoped for some peaceful areas where we could take a break from the hustle of the big city and enjoy nature. What we found were an... More

Whenever we are in Budapest and we get a nice day, we take one of the yellow trams to the last stop on the Pest side then walk half way across the Margeret Bridge and walk to the right along the entrance to the island. Just inside the park is the singing fountain which performs (I think) on the hour... More

Margarétin ostrov je ideálnym miestom oddychu pri spoznávaní Budapešte. Relaxujte pri spievajúcej fontáne, rozkvitnutých záhonoch, v kúpeľoch, na bicykli, ... Možností je oveľa viac. Margaret Island is an ideal resting place for those who are exploring Budapest. You can relax by the singing fountain, blooming flower beds, baths, on the bicycle ... the possibilities are much more.

You can take one of the many river boats or tour boats to this idyllic spot on the river frequented by locals and tourists alike. It is mainly a large park with very beautiful trees and gardens.

Staying in Margaret Island

Neighborhood Profile
Margaret Island
For Budapest, this island between the banks of the Danube represents a green oasis, especially during summer when its emerald spaces are much enjoyed by both locals and tourists. The gardens here are very picturesque; the flowers in full bloom give the landscape a variety of hues; the fountains add an air of freshness, making walks peaceful, joyful and romantic. A leisurely stroll will uncover a variety of sites, even the ruins of a medieval Franciscan church and convent are still visible.
