For Budapest, this island between the banks of the Danube represents a green oasis, especially during summer when its emerald spaces are much enjoyed by both locals and tourists. The gardens here are very picturesque; the flowers in full bloom give the landscape a variety of hues; the fountains add an air of freshness, making walks peaceful, joyful and romantic. A leisurely stroll will uncover a variety of sites, even the ruins of a medieval Franciscan church and convent are still visible.

A peaceful and quiet place between Pest and Buda
Sep 2020
When we're in Budapest we often visit this green island and spend a few hours here. Last Sunday we spent a sunny afternoon walking and relaxing. We saw the fountain and listened to nice classical music, later just were wandering and looking the colourful nature, the ruins of monastery from 13. century and Medieval Dominican Convent and Royal Mansion. It was a fantastic afternoon.

Best place to spend a leisurely few hours
Oct 2019
I visit Margit Siget about once a year while in Budapest visitng family and hands down it is my favorite place to spend time. There are paths to run or walk on, places to sit and enjoy the sun, dancing water fountain, those four wheel, double bench bike things with canapies to rent, rose garden, places to get a drink and sit outside, the large "BUDAPEST" sign. It is a lovely place to spend the day. I highly recommend!

Relaxing island in the middle of the city
Aug 2020
Magical island in between Buda and Pest. Easy to walk over the bridge and directly to this little paradise. As soon as you arrive there is a soundwall. You suddenly forget that you are in a big city. With a fountain that plays different kind of music coordinated with the water, cute bicycles everywhere, people relaxing and enjoying them selves. Spend a few hours walking/biking around the island, peoplewatching by the fountain or one of the lovely seating areas with beach beds.

AMAZING PLACE!
Jul 2020
Clean air, a lot of places to relax and enjoy your day.
It is close to the WestEnd shopping mall, in walking distance and very nice to visit and spend a day at this beautiful island in the center of Budapest.
There is a pool for swimming, water tower, Japanese garden and mini zoo and much more that you can visit.
You can also rent a bicycle, e-scooter, vintage car or just jog / walk around the island.
We strongly recommend.

We visited the pools and the Japanese garden. Excellent place to enjoy and relax with the kids in a warm summer day!!

We went to this island/park quite early morning and spent there 4 hours. We walked all way around stopping for little rest on the bench in this beautiful park.
There are so many things ... Japanese gardens, monastery ruins, rose garden, "dancing fountain" ...

Get in a jog or a long walk!
Dec 2019
We hiked up across the Margit Hid (Bridge) to the Island, then hiked up island to the highway bridge. While Margit Hid is pedestrian friendly, the other bridge Arpad Hid was a highway with a raised sidewalk and we were anxious to get into more relaxed surroundings on the Buda side. We could have returned the way we came but we would not have seen as much! Next time though, I would definitely do the return trip down island.

Beautiful Island park in the middle of the city
Oct 2019
My wife and I took a Sunday afternoon boat ride up from Budapest. The weather was beautiful and the boat trip was picturesque and relaxing. We disembarked on the island and strolled around seeing the sites--St. Margaret's grave and the ruins of a convent, and gardens along tree-lined paths along with families and couples. We stayed long enough that we caught the boat back 2 hours later. A great place to take a break from sightseeing.
