We spent the afternoon walking around Budapest with Orsolya. She was very responsive to our emails leading up to our tour. We asked her to take us to more intimate, non touristy areas of Budapest and she did not disappoint. We saw places I know we wouldn't have seen on our own and she insured we were walking at a comfortable pace.
We walked through the Great Market Hall and we tasted a wide variety of the meats and vegetables on sale. We had lunch outdoors at a charming cafe, she introduced us to chimney cakes and most importantly she took us to a small, but famous, chocolate chop on a quiet street that had the most incredible designer chocolate.
Orsolya is so knowledgeable and proud of her city. We learned so much about Budapest and Hungarian history. We highly recommend Orsolya to guide you around Budapest.
We would strongly

We were in Budapest for 3 days prior to our Viking River Cruise and hired Orsolya to show us around. She did a wonderful job by not repeating those places we would see on the Viking River Cruise City tour. We think we saw everything of interest in Budapest (on both sides of the Danube) both inside and out and learned about each place as we went which included history, architecture and the stories or items of interest. We felt like Orsolya was efficient so that we would see everything but also we were at each site as long as we wanted. She is very nice and accommodating and we are so pleased that we had her to show us around. We would definitely recommend her if anyone is visiting Budapest. Be sure, if you have time, to go the “Best Coffee Shop in the World” for a break. She took us there for a cup of coffee and it is beautiful.

I agree with the sentiments that Hungary has become a xenophobic country and is exemplified by the actions of the underground railway staff who at any opportunity exploit tourists out of money. They do not provide their number or name they just demand hundreds of euros which goes right into their pocket. I have written to the Hungary tourist board who supported their actions and didn't find fault , which I can only interpret as signs of a corrruot self centered country. The country under Orban has pushed itself far to the right and is a disgrace to the EU. Avoid.
P.s we travelled as a group , I am white British but with Asian Malaysian friends who were treated with lack of respect.

We selected Travel Guide Hungary because of the great reviews. One we had agreed to a price and dates, Orsolya informed us she could not do the tour she promised as she was nearing delivery of her child. She then recommended one guide, who was busy and then another guide. I wish I had known all this up front. Our guide was great, and I will review him separately.
We paid $300 for two half day private walking tours. $90 was paid in advance and the balance at the end of the tour. Orsolya was slow to respond to emails and sometimes I had to send it two and even three times. Despite sending her many detailed emails, she kept asking for our hotel and start time. When I asked for the tour guide contact info, she was reluctant and said not to contact him unless it was an emergency. This is odd, as I have already paid a deposit, so coordinating details is a normal expectation.
I have no doubt Orsolya’s high ranking is justified as a guide. But, had I not given a deposit, I would have not used her firm, as the business skills and customer service was lacking.

Well, it is hard to say anything to this kind reviews - this is typical example of a person who can find a problem even if everything is great.
First of all he admitted he had a great tour with my colleague Endre - so I am asking - what kind of an opportunity he missed?
And now let me tell you about the whole situation.
1. He wrote me in April and ask me about 2 Budapest tours in July.
2. I told him I could arrange one of my colleagues from our team for his tours and he said OK.
We are a team of professional guides and one of my colleague would do the tour from the beginning. The guide who was arranged for his tours realized she could not do this tour 2 days after I told to the client so I informed him in APRIL they were going to have another guide (also from our team) what they accepted.
Change of guides is something we try to avoid but it is not always possible. Guides have their lives and they become sick or they attend events like weddings, funerals just like every normal person does. So than we provide service of another guide. All of our guides are carefully selected and we really give a great deal with who we cooperate with.
3. Knowing who was going to be their guide (Endre) and agreeing about tours and price they paid deposit. The cancelation and refund policy is clearly written on the receipt.
4. I answered to all his mails which was connecting to the tour in 24 hours but there was a few mails when he asked questions I already answered or something no need urgent answer - like "Are taxis safe in Budapest?" He was so inpatient he wrote another mail in 24 hours!
We try to do our best and we work really hard to answer the mails as soon as possible. Since this is a family runned company by me and my husband and as he mentioned in his review we are expecting our first child we might set our priorities a bit differently. but you got answer in 24 hours for all those mails which were important to be answered fast. And if you send 2-3 mails in the row it doesn't mean that we will answer quicker. It might happen that we are on the tour from 8 am to 6 pm. I guess you would not be happy if I would be answering the e-mails in the middle of your tour.
5. The fact he states - he did not get the contact number of guide - is just simply not true. I gave him the contact of the guide in MAY while he had a tour in JULY.
6. Even if he paid deposit we have FULL REFUND if he cancels 14 days before the tour. This is clearly written on the form when he paid the deposit. Unfortunately he did not cancel. Maybe it would be better if he does.
I have a record of all of this conversation and I am happy to share it with anyone.
Actually the most incredible thing is he admitted he liked the tours and the guide was great.
So what kind of an opportunity he missed?
I think missed opportunity would be if you would get no guide or if we would not provide you the service you paid for.
Since this review can mislead other readers and has nothing to do with the truth - all I can say it would be appropriate to remove it but unfortunately Trip advisor support allows this.

After traveling on the Viking Odin we(4 of us) contracted with Orsolya to walk us around Budapest on a beautiful Sunday morning. We are glad we did!! Not only was she very pleasant and well informed she gave us insights from her generation of the historical events that are affecting present day Hungary. It is very difficult for Americans to understand the complexities of being conquered and subjected by a suppressive foreign entity. Orsi gave us an enlightened perspective of not only the buildings and history of the city but a modern day outlook of a younger generation Hungarian to the pressures facing the evolution of their country. We strongly encourage future visitors to contact her and enjoy a wonderful tour.

We spent 5 days in Budapest this past May, 2012, and thought due to the language we would hire a private guide for two, 4 hour excursions. After reviewing all the various guides online, we chose Orsolya Morvai (Orsi to her friends :). She...was....AMAZING!!! So much energy, knowledge about history, architecture, and culture. She took us into places we would have never found, and even got us into a few places we didn't belong (like a wonderful Art Nouveau apartment building).
Her English is excellent and if the excursions in the City of Budapest are typical of her skills, you will have a great time with her as your guide on any trip she offers. I only wish we had the time to do the Wine Tour! So much Tokai, so little time :(

We booked two tours with Orsolya because of the wonderful reviews. We booked a walking food tour and a Villany wine tour. When we arrived, she was unable to take us because she was unable to take us on the tours because her doctor told her to rest due to her pregnancy. She was able to arrange the tours with two other tour guides who were both great.
Judit picked us up at our hotel and gave us a great food tour. We walked tried palinka, strudel, salamis, cheeses, pickles, unicum and visited the Ruin Bar. We had a fantastic time with her. She provided us with great information about the history of Hungary and how the culture developed different types of food. We highly recommend a tour with Judit.
Our second tour was a Villany wine tour with Agi. Agi was also very had great information about Hungary history and culture. She was very informative and professional. The wine tour brought us to three different wineries. We had great wines and food. We ended our tour at this beautiful restaurant/winery. We would recommend going on this beautiful tour.

I am glad to hear that you enjoyed the food tour in Budapest with Judit and the wine tour to Villany with Agi.
They both told me they really enjoyed showing around your family.
Let me know if ever come to our area and maybe we can meet then :)

Due to a flight cancelation we missed our scheduled Viking River Cruise tour of Budapest. Since I was determined to see the city before our ship sailed, I emailed Orsolya just before boarding our delayed flight from the US and about an hour after we landed in Budapest we had Juli waiting for us at our dock. She knew we had to play catch up since we only had 3-4 hours and she really came through. Bus tickets in hand she whisked us around the beautiful city of Budapest like a pro. She was lively, engaging, and full of the historical and cultural information that brings such a city to life. Hands down the best tour we had during two weeks in Europe!

Orsolya was a fabulous tour guide for our group of 6. She picked us up promptly at our hotel and provided transportation throughout the day. She started on the Pest side of the Danube so the rising sun hit the Buda side for excellent views and photo ops. Similarly, we finished on the Buda side at the Fisherman's Bastion with incredible views of Pest. Orsy gives a good first day overview of Budapest, and made the city seem accessible. She provided invaluable history and information as we toured the city that you just can't get from a guide book. She also had helpful logistic suggestions for the rest of our stay. She is knowledgeable, friendly, and pleasure to tour with. The price was absolutely appropriate for the experience!

We are arriving in Budapest on April 28th at 10:45 am. I’m not sure how long from airport to hotel, but was wondering if Orsolya had time for maybe a 2 or 3 hour walking tour in the afternoon? We are staying at the Four Seasons. Dinner reservations at 7:30. We are wine and history lovers so whatever could be accomplished in that period of time would be appreciated! Please let me know if that is possible and how to contact you.
Thanks!
