The day that we attended the market the weather was overcast and raining and sadly there were not alot of stall holders open. The prices are a little more expensive than the country areas of Hungry but there was a good selection of good avaliable. I would visit again and would recommend to people to visit when in Budapest.

The Guba market in Budapest began its 4th season.last week.
.I could not wait for it to begin...It is a Sunday only and open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m...
Just a warning do not leave it too late ...people are packing from about 6-30 p.m...
For me ,a resident, it is the hightlight of the Spring and summer market season..
It attracts Hungarians and the Danube cruise clients..
It covers all manner of original crafts .Probably jewelry predominates with established jewelers and young designers taking their first steps in the world of commerce...
Designer clothes too ,artists, and general crafts etc..
.
The area used to be a wasteland .The centre of the Jewish district with a history under the Nazis that was horrifying...Now it is vibrant with not only the market but with a backbround of Bistros ,pubs and restaurants...
Cafe Vien is a great stopping off point for lunch but I will review that later...
Every week there is live music and an area for children to paint their faces and enjoy the atmosphere..
You can spend 2-3 hours listening to the music, browsing the stalls and having lunch ...
I will be taking friends from the UK who want something just a little different....

Great market especially if you are interested in cooking, the various spices and paprika's on sale are brilliant for gifts as is the sweets and chocolate and of course stocking your own kitchen, there are some wonderful gifts available on the first floor from Hungarian dolls and lace to funny animal hats to fake Russian tank drivers helmets. all in all it's the spot to avoid the higher prices in the main streets for all your gifts for the folks at home.

This market has local art creators like people who make glass jewellry and paper ones. It is nice if you want to buy something unique or just watch and explore some old objects. I would recommend you to burgain a bit as since it is becoming famous some objects are overpriced. There are many restaurants and bars on that same street. It is in area where you can also see some street art and the second biggest synagoge in Europe, so go there.

Since March 2015 there are many stores now closed on Sundays in Hungary so it is good to know there is still a place open for shopping on Sunday.
For one of a kind souvenir or gift, it is the perfect place.
Last days in October (re-opens early April).

We found this place entertaining to visit. It's in the old Jewish districts and in the interconnecting courtyards artists and craftsmen offer their produce, they had some nice live music. We counted 3 different bands actually. There is also some homemade ggodies as well (chocolate, honey, jams...)There' restaurant and cafe. All in all a nice program given a reasonably good weather. Its open air. They say that its only open from March till mid October and Sundays only

Lovely place to meander through, passing the time . Nice artisan bits and pieces not any old rubbish you get at normal markets , take an hour on your way through and pick up some nice bits to take home .

We visited on a Sunday. Lots of stalls with hand crafted products, including print, paintings, photography, hand stitched items and jewellery.
Recommended if you are in the area, there are cafes and bars close by too.

We took a walk through this market on a Sunday morning and found a small framed print of a watercolor Budapest scene sold by the artist himself, and also got a very pretty decorative soap dish from another vendor (wish I would have bought a few more actually). This is a nice place to go to find souvenirs that you don't see at your average cookie-cutter souvenir store. And you can get a lot of nice things for affordable prices
