The church was built according to plans by Samu Pecz and is a really beautiful neo-Gothic brick building. The interior is also worth a visit, especially since the church's floor plan is very unusual. The pulpit is given a much more prominent place here than the communion table.

We had seen this church from across the Danube many times (it is on the bank of the river, directly down from the Fisherman's Bastion).
It is absolutely stunning outside. A lot more plain inside (in keeping with the beliefs of this denomination), but still interesting to visit- and when we went we were the only people there for our whole visit.
The 1 star off is because I never like paying to enter places of worship. The charge is small and from the displays they do a lot for charity, I just think that it should be an optional donation.

What we loved the most about this church was the resident priest and other staff. The stipulation to getting married was a pre-marriage class, two days away together, intensive discussions and much love...it changed our relationship forever, we loved it so much.
The wedding was wonderful, the church is quaint and small inside AND they have an internet camera that films the weddings live so my family could be there!
This church is forever on our favorites list!

TripAdvisor is still showing hours open - which, after walking there IN THE RAIN today, we found to be untrue. You cannot see it from the Pest side of the Danube, but the whole building is surrounded by construction fences and the cathedral-shaped windows have been removed and you can see through these gaping holes in the building, but you cannot tour it at all. Very disappointed.

A clearly visible landmark, an architectural jewel and a Protestant community with a strong outreach program all come together in this very visible church. Built of bright red brick, this Neo-Gothic structure was completed in 1896. The roof, as that of the St. Matyas church on top of Castle Hill, is covered by colorful Zsolnay ceramic tiles, in shades of brown, yellow and green. Being at river level, and without other tall buildings around, this colorful ensemble is highly visible for miles from the Pest side. The Bell-tower that stands next to the church reaches over 180 feet, and is similarly colorful. The inside is based on a pentagonal design, with tall windows, a few rosettes and a central baptismal font. Carefully carved pews and an elevated pulpit complete the internal furnishings, typically modest in its decor. A good organ, and excellent acoustics make this a great home for music.

As a Protestant church, the interior is puritan, not as richly decorated like the Catholic churches. The effect is achieved not by its decoration, but by its architecture. The naves of the pentagon-planed neogothic church run in the center where the altar stands.
Roofs covered with colored maiolica tiles are crowning the red brick walls. The whole church is very decorative, and it is particularly impressive to look at it from above, from the Buda castle. It was planned by Pecz Samu architect, whose statue is standing near this beautiful house of God, that closes its gates for visitors and believers

If your Buda side of this most beautiful of cities and walking along the river bank between The Chain Bridge and in the direction of Margaret Bridge you cannot fail to miss this very impressive looking church.
A beautiful red bricked church with a lofty spire that looks awesome.
I have never been into this church but I am impressed by the sheer size and beauty of The Calvinist Church.
From this church you have great views across the River Danube.
Tram 19 and 41 run right past this church which is well worth a visit.
Easy to find on Szilagyi Dezco Ter.

Noticed this little beauty just by accident. Was on the #19 tram, which runs along the Buda bank of the Danube. Meant to get off at Batthyány tér, so as to be opposite the Houses of Parliament on the other side of the river. Instead, got off one-stop too soon. My reward: discovering this gorgeous church. Didn't go in, as the church was locked, but it was reward enough just to enjoy its lovely exterior.

Absolutely stunning little church. We stumbled upon it whilst searching for our canal cruise, and loved it.
