This statue originally stood in the courtyard of the Széchenyi Baths in 1895. In 1929, it was moved to the main entrance of the spa, and then to this location.
Vilmos Zsigmondy created the domestic deep drilling industry; he drilled the artesian well in Varosliget which supplies the water for the nearby baths.
