We enjoyed the free city tour to the fullest. Our guide Andriss gave a lot of interessting information about the city and country, combined with a healty dosis of humor. We really recommend doing this trip, preferrably at the start of your stay in Budapest, so you get a good overview of the city. And don't forget to tip these... More

The tour was very interesting and the guide, Andris, told us a lot of interesting stories that made us forgot for a few minutes the freezing outside :)). I trully recomend the tour, no matter the day of your trip; we went in one of the last days in Budapest and was a pleasure to discover a lot of new... More

I did both the Jewish walking tour and the general walking tour as a great introduction to the city and it's very interesting history. The general tour covers quite a lot of ground on both the Pest and Buda side of the city and the Jewish tour provided a very interesting history to the area and the details of the... More

Orsi's free walking tour was the best I took this winter travelling around Europe. She started by teaching us Hungarian words and finished with a game about Hungarian inventions. She is charismatic, passionate, and very knowledgeable about her city. Her love of theater and good storytelling shows through. She was willing to improvise when she found a building usually closed,... More

We had to meet at Deak Square and we joined in time. The tour was in English and Brigi (tour guide) was there to receive us and guide was for reservation. We did a walking tour of the city covering the Stephen's chapel, the Four seasons hotel, the chain bridge, the Matthias Church, the Vlad dungeon, and the Palace. She... More

Levi told us some really interesting history of Hungary. We were freezing as each stop was a few minutes of history though and it was 0 degrees! What would have made it better was if he could have told us what more of the impressive buildings were called.

Free Walking Tours are like pizza, even when they're bad, they're still pretty good. This is how I feel after today's tour. I certainly enjoyed it, but there's so much lost potential. Our guide (I dont feel comfortable writing their name publicly) could benefit from improving both her style of delivery and her content. Style: a bit monotone, and zero... More

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
