I noticed this fountain as we were walking up to the Eye, after riding the Eye we checked out the fountain, which is in a small park. It is pretty. With multiple human figures, and multiple levels it is a nice large fountain and worth checking out.

So much to see, do, and eat in this amazing city. From Buda to Pest we saw it all and would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Amazing mixed history so vividly apparent in the architecture and monuments. Unique spectacles not to be missed are Buda Hill from the Philosophers sculpture to the northern edges beyond the Castle and Mattias Church, the Parliament, the Opera, and the Szechenyi Thermal Baths beyond Heroes Square by the reconstructed Castle. Try to see it all over again at night since it is all beautifully illuminated.

Attractive large fountain in the center of Elisabeth Square (Erzsebet ter) next to the Ferris Wheel of Budapest. Dating back to 1883. On top is Danubius who personifies the Danube River. Below him are three female figures representing the three main tributaries of the Danube, the Tisza, Drava and Sava. Worth a look if you are passing through the park.

A fairly ordinary fountain that derives its name from the famous Danube River. It was a popular fountain used as a meeting place before it was damaged in WW.2. After it was repaired it was placed in its present location in Elizabeth Square in 1956.

Its an OK statue in Elizabeth square by the Ferris wheel. The park wasn't the best and I just took a quick photo as I went past. The fountain was dry when we were there in February 2023. The fountain obviously gets its name from the Danube river.

Located in Elisabeth square, this fountain is too big to be missed.
Having said that, we never got a chance to see it flowing with water, as it was always dry.

On Elizabeth square immediately catches your attention a large, beautiful fountain. Walking closer you can see three sitting women figure, possibly with very shapeless legs, since all the three of them proudly showing their nice round bare breasts, but carefully covering their legs. Above them the crown of creation a man with nothing to hide, rowing on a dolphin with a loose-fitting cape on his shoulders, a paddle in one hand and a seashell in the other. The shell, the dolphin and the oar indicate that the statues are related somehow to water, and the fountain's name, Danubius, solves the mystery. The stately boatman is Danube river, while the three allegorical girls dreamily sitting are depicting the three tributaries of the Danube, the Tisza, the Drava and the Sava. The architect who designed the fountain was Miklós Ybl, and the sculptors were Béla Brestyánszky and Leó Feszler. Unfortunately, the sight of the water and the sound of its rustling was left to my imagination because the fountain was bone dry.

The fountain is next to the ferris wheel and a kids play ground. The fountain itself was like any other fountain but the location was great we first went on the ferris wheel then played near the fountain and ended up at the kids play ground with our 6 year old

The fountain is an attractive feature in Elizabeth Square. It was dry when we saw it in July, but it is still interesting.

A nice fountain next to the Budapest eye where's a lot of space for a nice picnic - usually after sunset there's a lot of young people.
