Neighborhood: Margaret Island
For Budapest, this island between the banks of the Danube represents a green oasis, especially during summer when its emerald spaces are much enjoyed by both locals and tourists. The gardens here are very picturesque; the flowers in full bloom give the landscape a variety of hues; the fountains add an air of freshness, making walks peaceful, joyful and romantic. A leisurely stroll will uncover a variety of sites, even the ruins of a medieval Franciscan church and convent are still visible.

Margit-sziget Water Tower is about 2km north of the Margaret Bridge ramp. It is 57m hich, a conical rotunda supported by slender legs. It was built in 1911 by Szilárd Zielinski and Rezső Ray in the secession style of architecture, characterized by clean lines and ornate decoration. An interior staircase leads to the top, offering expansive views of Margaret Island, the Danube and the city beyond. There is an open air theater at the southern base of the tower, and a fast-food restaurant on the north side. The tower is open during summer months, with an entry fee of 600 HUF.

Firstly Margaret Island, where the Water Tower is located, is a very pleasant place to spend a few hours if you are visiting Budapest for 3 or 4 days. It is tranquil, leafy and relaxing. About 2/3 along the island you will find the Water Tower (you can't miss it) that was built in 1911 and is a UNESCO protected structure. It is 57m (187ft) tall and has a viewing gallery that offers panoramic views of the island.

The water tower is one of the sights of the Island. Since I wasn't able to climb up, I had to take the word of the others, who told, that the view is fantastic from above. There are a restaurant and an outdoor stage as well. The restaurant has a menu at the entrance but not very good advertising for them. Dirty with spider web, so I decided to read it online and probably have dinner somewhere else.
The water tower is very impressive, and two lovely ladies were there waiting for the visitors.
I found the nearby discovered ruins of a medieval Dominican convent and Royal mansion more interesting.

The water tower is definitely worth seeing whilst on Margaret's Island and it gives you great views of the surrounding Island and the city itself. There is also an open air theatre below which we were lucky to see a dress rehearsal of from the top of the tower.

Visited Margit-sziget Water Tower whilst on Margaret Island. Great place to take photos.
AVOID Elektromosauto kolcsonzes hire desk the bloke there today (20/03/19) was a conman. The total hire charge came to 12,400 fln, I handed him 15,000 he offered me no change, when questioned he gave me 300fln. Hang on I gave you 15,000 this should be 3000 not 300. Reluctantly he gave me the 3000. He was praying for the ignorance of the currency. It didn't work

A great photo opportunity on this beautiful island. The building towers over the island. At certain times you can climb the tower. Restaurants in the base. Close to the hotels.
