This sculpture of a lion is located in a park near the Buda end of Margaret Bridge. It commemorates the heroic actions of Hungarian troops who fought on this spot during the First World War.

Przemysl Memorial is in Buda, at the west end of Margaret Bridge. The monument depicts a roaring lion as it surmounts a flag draped over a cannon. On the front of the monument is the word "Przemysl". This memorial was erected in 1932 to commemorate the Austro-Hungarian soldiers who defended the Przemyśl fortress from 1914 to 1914 against the Russian army. The fortress was captured after a second siege in 1915. Przemyśl is the name of a small city in southeastern Poland, (close to the border with Ukraine) where the longest siege of World War I took place. The cannon and flag on the monument connect it with the great war, and the lion symbolizes courage, strength and greatness. Przemyśl was not a victory, it was a loss. The monument is accessible at all times with no entry fee.

I didn't find the statue itself that impressive - but it is always important to remember that there were many battles in Eastern Europe during the First World War.
