The buses themselves and the route was good. The boat cruise add-on was a nice surprise. Unfortunately the bus company allows the bus to get overly filled, thereby having people standing in the aisle blocking the view of those sitting down, PLUS those standing up have no access to the commentary. Surely the bus should have load limits, and sometimes you just have to wait for the next one!

Very difficult to find the stops we were told to go to stop 14 it was not in operation
Other stops had no markings which was odd
W
Had a two day ticket each time we got on we seemed to go a completely random route and some numbers on the route just seemed to vanish
Every time we used it half way round we were told the bus was going out of service and had to get off onto another bus
The assistant beside the driver sometimes checked our tickets other times didnt which seemed odd
Today the bus was jam packed with people standing downstairs and on the stairs
Was not the safest
The assistants who tell you the stop number need to learn how to speak with a microphone still trying to figure out what the muffled noise was
Have used these buses all over the world this was poor

Bus and boat trips.
Red bus route was ok with the top deck seating enjoying a breeze in the spring sunshine.
The yellow bus route in a single deck unaircon bus with lengthy delays at each stop was a trial.
Both bus routes had commentaries the red one better than the yellow. However both poor compared to the free walking tour from St Stephens Basilica which was more humourous and informative.
The same company runs boat trips in the afternoon which on our trip was very crowded.
I wouldn't bother again.

Waste of money!
Unprofessional service. Tickets were purchased online from Spain, then they were not accepted on the bus even the website says the opposite. Had to find the nearest ticket office and it was a hassle to sort them out as they argued that they were in Spanish.
The stops are a bit away from the monuments they advertise on their website and the drivers are not capable to give simple directions to them.
To find the boat was also not an easy task, although the trip was good!
Would not recommend this company!
However Budapest is absolutely beautiful and everything else there was a fantastic experience.

The buses are old and not so comfortable. One of them was open on the upper floor and had no heating system - it was really cold and wet on a snowy day. The driver was also a bit irritated.
The explanations about the sites are far from complete, and most of the time they just play some songs.
Besides, the buses don't take you to the nicest places such as the parliament (they only stop a few blocks away from there) and the castle (you have to pay extra and change buses if you wanna go).
In my opinion, it was a waste of money and time. You're far better off with a 24h public transport card and some guide book about Budapest. Metro, buses and tram cover all the important locations and are really easy to use.
I've used Hop on Hop Off in many cities, but in Budapest it's just not a good idea!

Waste of money, in my opinion - you are better off using public transit for longer distances and walking in the city centre. You will have hard time coordinating your sightseeing with the infrequent bus schedule. Finding the right bus stop is not simple. The buses are often packed and the schedule is  unreliable at best. Earphones are provided to let you listen to a guide in multiple languages but you can plug the earphones only if you are lucky enough to find a seat; some plugs were broken.
At the Citadel, there were four buses waiting for 20 minutes and they all left at the same time after a lot of confusion, and after customers being sent from one bus to another. The tour guides are not super friendly.
Overall we felt disappointed and ripped off. We used similar services in other cities and were quite satisfied; not this time.

Don’t waste your money with this company. Buses were full, have never enjoyed any view, long waiting time in long lines in the middle of the sidewalks. Night cruise started 1 hour later, so we missed a reservation in a restaurant. Nobody around to give you information.
I’m giving one star and that is a lot for them.

This is the "giraffe HoHo in Budapest. The other "Big Bus" and the other red Hop On Hop Off had plenty of bushes arriving at the common stops. The giraffe HoHoff was terrible for timeliness. Waited over 1 hour for them at stop #4 ( Buda castle). They are the newest in business in Budapest. Not going to take chance on them again. Ruined our day waiting around for them

We were approached by a Program Centrum staff near St. Stephen’s Basilica who gave a very rosy picture about their Hop on Hop off service. Since I am a wheelchair user and my husband was also having some problems in walking that day we purchased four 48 hrs tickets from him. Unfortunately, we were not very happy with their services. We also had to use public transport at various stops to avoid wasting time waiting for their buses.

I was really upset when I got to know that their buses were temporarily not going to Mathias Church & Castle hill (one of the main stops of the tour). We were not informed of this while purchasing our tickets. We had to get off at Adam Clark Square and go up by the funicular to reach the the castle hill. As a result my husband and I could not visit Mathias church and Fisherman’s Bastian as it was a long walk from the palace.

Secondly, our ticket included a free night river cruise but when we reached the dock we were informed that the operators have clubbed two cruises into one and it will not be possible for me and my wheelchair to board on to the available boat. Sadly, we missed the river cruise. However, the night bus tour we took the next day was quite good and covered a lot of beautifully lit major attractions.

Lastly I would also like to mention that most of their drivers, in spite of seeing a wheelchair passenger, never stopped the bus at the right spot. The bus used to be quite far from the pavement and we had to struggle to get in and out. I think these drivers need a bit of training in relation to transporting wheelchair users.

One of the worst hop-on-hop-offs ever. It was a rainy day and they came with open, convertible busses. The bus was supposed to come to different stops every 15-20 minutes, but some were very late and some never showed up, and it was freezing cold that day in October. We ended up walking everywhere. A total waste of our money!
