About
Simple enough: live jazz/blues/rock every night in a dimly-lit, cavernous basement bar. Despite its location being right outside Gozsdu Udvar, the passage teeming with popular bars and restaurants, Lámpás feels a world away from the tourist herds - a truly little gem in the midst of it all. Expect increasingly more dancing, a boisterous crowd, and a cramped space as the night progresses.

The area
Address
Neighborhood: District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.

Went for dinner here at the beginning of June. We were unsure of where to eat that would serve authentic hungarian food, but this was just perfect. The food was reasonably priced and tasty. Good atmosphere made even better by the addition of a pianist who plays most nights. Friendly and courteous waiters.
All in all we had a really great dinner.

Lampas in a cellar down a steep set of stairs - look for the sign outside. We went on a Sunday night - the open mic started at 10.00 pm, with the audience and performers crammed into a vaulted cellar (reminded me of the Cavern in Liverpool, but a bit smaller). But what a great atmosphere, with a great range of performers ranging from enthusiastic amateurs to skilled semi- pros. Most of the singing is is English but nice to hear Hungarian and Turkish singers as well. Great audience also made for a perfect night

After a night of heavy drinking and cold weather I ventured into Lampas! I've been there before but kind was off my radar! Very chill and kind and friendly service a truly great experience. My friend had forgotten her belongings and thanks from a little help from Spinoza....We were able to retrieve her jacket and purse completely intact...Thanks so much for going out of the way on a Sunday to assist us....)))

Although we were only there for drinks, we can surely recommend this joint.

Lámpás has a very good vibe and looking at their program, an impressive line-up of various live acts (when we were there, there was a Rockabilly group, but there was a varied list of musical acts on the menu).

Host Daniel from The Netherlands and his team are serving good draft beers and have succeeded in creating a special place, right next to the well loved Spinoza restaurant.

Had an absolute ball here, made our last night very special to be able to bring our a capella style to Budapest. What a treat and such a lovely audience, atmosphere and place to be! Lovely to watch some of the acts and great sound. Had we not been leaving the next day, would have stayed all night. Big Liverpool thank you to the host Gabor! A definite 'must visit'. Going back again on next visit to watch all the rich and varied talent in Budapest!

Ver authentic local music place. We really enjoyed it here. Drinks were all reasonably priced too. Also good if you want to get away from the British stag dos
