About
We are not a giant tour operator. We started this small company in our parent’s garage but we think this is our strength! We keep it simple, and honest, and would like to share with you the best. I mean not the cheap things which are just ok! We don’t make compromise. We don’t make anything which we would not enjoy on our own bike holiday. You will get the best and genuine because this is what you deserve, and to be honest, we can’t do it any other way. We could write down how fantastic we are and start a marketing voodoo, but it is the best if you hear about us from our guests and friends.

Lake Balaton and Hungarian countryside are spectacular. The bicycle trip featuring Hungarian wines had countless tastings with mostly white wines that were varied and enjoyable. With all the meals endless wine was served, exactly what we hoped for with a trip featuring wine.

The bicycling was exactly as described. 4 members of our group opting for electric bikes, that they booked in advance. One member opted to switch to an ebike after the first day and the tour guides accommodated that request immediately. There were a few steep hills, but mostly the terrain was even and mostly consisted of well-groomed bike lanes beside roads or meandering roads through the country side with very little traffic. There was one washed out dirt trail, the result of some flooding in the previous week, that some of our group decided to walk up

Personal safety was a top priority, as one of the members of our group, continually ignored the tour guides requests to stay with the group and biked away from the group at a rest stop. The tour guides made every attempt to search for the missing member of our group. The guides sent countless texts to the missing person's cell phone, as did the missing members wife. They wanted to ensure the safety of the rest of the group, so got them to the hotel, while others from the company scoured the surrounding countryside by car for the missing member. Unfortunately, the lost cyclist cell phone was not working in Hungary, so Tim was completely on his own. Thankfully the lost member of our group was able to find a café where he enjoyed a beer and some pizza while the tour guides sent a taxi to pick him up. This incident was incredibly annoying for many members of the group for the remainder of the trip as this individual chose to blame the tour company for his stupidity and showed a constant lack of respect for the rest of the members of the tour. The tour guides handled the situation with the upmost professionalism.

The scenery was great, and the wine, bicycling was incredible, and guides ensured that every detail of the trip was well organized, and it was a fantastically enjoyable destination trip.

If you want a trip where you just have to show up and bike, then this is for you. They take care of all the bikes, hotels, meals, transfers, wine tastings and you get a history lesson too. The wineries that we visited were all lovey. We had the privilege of meeting the owners and learning their history. The wines were excellent and we ended up buying a couple of bottles from each vineyard. We had a couple of beautiful picnics where our cooks "Joseph and Ava" prepared a feast and introduced us to "Palenka". Our hotels were tucked into the countryside and were exactly what we needed after a great day of biking. The biking was a bit challenging but, if you need, you could rent a electric bike to help with the hills or there was a guide that could pick you up. For the most part, if you have trained a bit before you go, you will be able to bike this entire route. I would recommend this tour to anyone. So glad we found out about them.

We recently returned from an amazing bike and wine tour in Hungary. Vinociped is a small biking tour which catered to all of our needs!! I have never been on a holiday that I laughed so much on!! Thank you Gabor, Amos, Kornel and Sophie. You made this bike trip a once in a lifetime trip for the “Canadians”. Unfortunately I noticed a negative review posted from someone in the other group who was biking at the same time that we were. This individual chose to leave negative comments that to be explained. We were a group of 6 while the other group has 13 people. The only “rule” we had to follow was to stay behind the guide. This allowed everyone to reach the destinations together without one person affecting the trip for the others. This individual refused to follow the rule on numerous occasions and if his personal safety was a concern it was his own fault. He went so far ahead of the guide at the front of the group that they couldn’t stop him. At that point, our guides chose to get the other 18 people to their destination safely and then look for the “missing individual”. Every effort was made to contact him and when he was finally tracked down he was brought by taxi to the hotel. We had the opportunity to sit down with the other group for cocktails one night & there was no mention of “substandard wines”. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the trip!!
Yes there were a couple of difficult hills & yes I got off and walked occasionally but I figure over the 240km biked, I probably had to walk about 5km. E bikes had been set up for those that wanted them before the trip and anyone who wanted one after starting was supplied with one the next day. Yes there was more white than red wines but a quick google before the trip would have told you that. We went to amazing small wineries, met amazing people who had a connection to our guides and drank large quantities of some of the best wines I have ever tasted. Another highlight for our entire group was the picnic lunches served by Josef & Ava and our introduction to palinka!!
We met our guide Gabor’s family which was another highlight of our trip!! How often do you go away on holidays & feel like you are with your family. This is an amazingly run small tour which gives you the chance to take in the beauty & history of Hungary. It is an adventure not to be missed!! I can’t think of anything that could have been done to improve our trip!! Please ignore the negativity of 1 individual on our trip. This is a trip I will never forget!!

Lake Balaton and Hungarian countryside are spectacular and are reminiscent of California a few decades ago when the wine industry was emerging. The bicycle trip featuring Hungarian wines had 5 tastings with nearly all white wines that were mediocre at best. For nearly all the meals the wine served was nondescript generic red or white that was disappointing for a trip featuring wine.

The bicycling was much more demanding than described with 5 members of our group opting for electric bikes to handle some of the steep climbs. There were a few steep hills and washed out dirt trails that all of our group decided to walk up.

Personal safety was a concern as one of the member of our group was left behind at a rest stop and the tour guides made no attempt to search for the missing member of our group. The guides claimed that they sent a text to the missing person's cell phone and did not want to slow down the trip for the group. Unfortunately, the lost cyclist cell phone was not working in Hungary so he was completely on his own. Thankfully the lost member of our group was able to reconnect with our group 6 hours later. This incident had a chilling impact for many members of the group for the remainder of the trip.

The scenery was great, however, the wine, bicycling, and guides all have lots of room for improvement to become an enjoyable destination trip.

Dear Timothy Tracey, You travelled on our guided bike tour with other 19 people. The most authentic and objective response to your review is their opinion about the tour and your behavior. You find their reviews under this names: Compass31279 MarianD217 750debh seekup brendanard leafsin67 I recommend next time choose a self-guided tour to avoid any problems. Gabor and his staff did a wonderful job making us feel welcome from the first day.
Everyday we stayed in great hotels had excellent meals and wonderful wines. Lots of stops to look at the countryside and here some history from a informative guide. The countryside is beautiful and a cycling trip is a special way to see it.
Vinociped had all the important details looked after for us and gave us lots of room to wonder on our own.
Thanks again.

Our group of 8 ladies had the trip of a lifetime. Gabor and team ensured that every detail was looked after. From the time they picked us up in Budapest, until the end of our 7 day tour, we were provided with top-notch accommodations, dining, tours and cycling. What makes this small company so special are Gabor, Akos and Kornel. They started out as our guides, but left as friends. They personalized each day and sharing their anecdotes and history made the trip that much more meaningful. There is not one thing I could suggest that they could improve upon....they really have thought of it all!

If you want to explore Hungary a little off the beaten path with local guides and you enjoy cycling and wine tasting, this is a true winner. Kornél, Zsofie, Gábor, and Ákos worked hard to make this week of inn to inn cycling a true delight for all of us. We learned so much about Hungarian history, culture, food and wine and everyday we were awed by the people (mostly good friends of the guide/owners of Vinociped) who shared their wine cellars with us, cooked picnic lunches over an open fire, and generally welcomed us to their corner of Hungary. We started the week with windy, chilly weather, but each day the weather got better and better. The last few days were under blue skies in shorts and t-shirts. Although it was the last season of the year, we were glad to go a bit into the fall as the summer crowds were nowhere to be found. The biking is a bit hilly, but for my old legs an e-bike was perfect. My husband had a regular bike and managed well. We are not wine aficionados, but we enjoyed sampling and since it was harvest season, it was just beautiful as we rode along Lake Balaton and through the wine country. It is clear the Vinociped team is proud of their homeland and anxious to show you a wonderful time in Hungary. If you enjoy visiting a country and getting to know a bit more than the capitol city or the major stops on a guided bus tour, this is a good fit. We are not super cyclers, but riding a bit before arriving will help toughen your bottom up. Never fear though, the riding is moderate and always interspersed with fun stops - a short walk up to a castle for a spectacular view, a beer by the lake, or the best ice cream in Hungary. It was a bit of a leap of faith for us to travel to a country we did not know much about and where we did not speak the language. Also, we were a couple who signed up for the tour and spent the week with 9 other brave souls. Our three days after the bike trip in Budapest were nice, but the week of cycling with Vinociped was really an unforgettable experience.

This was by far one of the best vacations I have ever been on. It is a hidden treasure yet to be fully discovered. It is a small company run by some hard working individuals who aim to please. The week long biking trip was beautiful, the guides entertaining and knowledgable about history and the region. If you have any special requests they will try to accommodate. The food was exceptional and the places we stayed in were from quaint to gorgeous. Gabor, Akos and Kornell took care of absolutely every little detail. The wineries were top notch. We were able to meet with the owners or top management of the vineyards and they treated us like royalty. The wine was of excellent quality and we were able to generously sample all of the different varieties that the vineyard had to offer. Hungary is a beautiful country with an interesting history. The people are friendly and hard working. I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone considering it. You won't be sorry.

Gabor and his team did an awesome job from start to finish. I emailed Gabor 100 times before the trip and he was always friendly, informative and helpful! The best part about this trip was the organization. All we had to do for 7 nights was ride a bike, drink wine, sleep and eat! Our guides became friends, they were the best. We are not avid riders and were worried about cycling approximately 25 miles per day for 6 days straight, so we trained some by riding 20 miles each day on the weekends. This adequately prepared us and we only had to push our bikes a few times. This trip was like comfort food. Nothing fancy and it couldn’t have been better. It’s a great way to see the Hungarian countryside and experience the wines, culture and people upfront and personal. We meet some great folks and would love to plan another trip with Vinociped.

Thank you Vinociped for an amazing self guided bike tour! We were the sparrows- or first group of the tourist season. We chose this trip with bike tours direct because we said we like bike trails adn country roads and wanted to be within a few hours of Vienna where our daughter lives. We appreciate the birthday welcome dinner, the GPS and tips on where to stop for lunch, ice cream, castles, or wineries. Every lodging was unique, high quality and welcoming.
