If you are wondering what to do on a sunny winter day in Budapest, try this out! This is a top experience! The rink is huge, plenty of space to move about. Entry is 4000 ft per person plus a security deposit of 2000 ft for skate hire. Great fun!

We had looked at this before coming but didn’t really understand the pricing until we got there. Basically you have to pay to go in and then pay for ice skating and then leave a 2000huf deposit per person. As a dad I lost all my cash and was upset!!
It was great fun though. You have to have an adult with the kids and we managed to fathom out how to use your locker card before venturing on to the ice. We went at twilight so we could experience it in the dark, which was really nice.
Once I managed to get going it was the kids who were exhausted first and wanted to stop (2 hours later). You can get drinks there but if there are people who are not skating they can either not go in or pay to go in and watch, so be careful. There is a park opposite for people who do not want to pay.

Fun expérience in a must see location, right next to the Szechenyi baths.
Ensure you have cash as the ATM on site has a very bad exchange rate.
Price differs between weekday and weekend rates. You also have to pay for the skate rentals + a deposit (2.000huf + 2.000huf from memory). Free locker with the entrance.
Easy access with the metro.
Beware of opening and closing hours. I’ve skating opens from 10am to 1pm and then again from 5pm to 9pm. It is closed every afternoon.

The ice rink is set in such beautiful surroundings. All staff were very friendly and approachable. The atmosphere created is just lovely, beautiful lights and music in the background. Unlike in Ireland when you go skating at Christmas time there is no barrier surrounding the rink to cling on to! So if you're like us (not very good) this prooved a little bit daunting! There were several other people in the same situation and we helped eachother along while having a great laugh at the same time! Just overall a really fun activity! Lastly it was fantastic value for money.

Nice setting, in the shadow of a castle. Reasonable value for money - but a cash deposit must be left when hiring skates. The in-house ATM provides a terrible exchange rate. Completely ripped-off. Bring your own cash beforehand!
Also check the weather before, since once it began pouring with rain we didn't go back on the ice. When its so wet the ice becomes very slippery (which they did warn us). There is a cafe to rest and get drinks. They do provide a locker. There are no edges to hold onto so make sure you can skate adequately. Very big rink though, largest outdoor rink I have ever seen. The size will surprise you. Check out the adjacent castle while you're there.
Student discount is only available if you have a physical student card. They do not accept electronic evidence, such as UNiDAYs. This seemed pretty outrageous since the price difference was so considerable. (costs 50% more if you're unable to prove to their satisfaction that you're a student). There were very rude and unsympathetic about this.

As a figure skater I'd always wanted to visit this rink. Its absolutely huge and the ice was pretty good for an outdoor rink. Only annoying thing was my friend who wasn't skating had to buy an admission ticket to watch, fortunately the ticket prices weren't pretty reasonable

If I ever spent a winter in Budapest I will make sure to go back.
In our visit we were in the Park -near the Millenium Monument- and we saw the area where all the skating happens in the winter and the building "Városligeti Műjégpálya". I ran out of battery in my cell...so I only came with one photo from there. But friends in Budapest showed us the winter decorations and what a fantastic time the citizens have in that ice ring. Lovely!

Beautiful surroundings and a lovely massive rink. Easy to hire skates after you have paid your deposit, plenty of locker space and places to just sit outside. You have to pay a fee to go in even if you don't want to skate. Me and my daughter had a great time.

Highly recommend anyone do this if they're over the winter months. Great location and views especially on a nice Winters day!
Beginners may struggle however as there are no sides to hold on to but once you're on the ice and away people should be fine. Make sure you look up opening times however as we were caught off with them shutting between 1pm-5pm. Also, make sure you have at least 2000HUF for skate rental!
You can always stop for a break and get a nice warm drink for a reasonable price as well which added to the time spent there. Give it a go if you get the chance!

Went to Heroes Square via the hop on/off bus - then went for a walk over to the rink. Great place for families and friends to gather and have a great time. I did not skate myself (63) but watched for a while. Beautiful setting.

Hi, I’m sorry , I don’t know. It’s situated outside, on what is a shallow boat lake , specially made for ice skating as it Is outside.
It’s well worth bringing or buying your own skates as hire charges are high in comparisons if you are going to be skating a few times in a week.
, it should almost pay for new skates ( deacatslon sell them in Budapest).
It’s very near a lovely bath which is clean, cheap and nice too.
I’d recommend the Buffett place, a chain it’s name escapes me right now.
Metro easy to understand and quick, saves walking miles.
You buy the tickets at street level via a machine , a block of 10 is the cheapest, the. There is an odd thing where you put the ticket into a sort of clock I g in machine, just before you stand on the subway or underground train.
Beautiful old , safe, half empty trains, all wooden inside.
We all really enjoyed Budapest, hope you do too.
There’s also a huge indoor market with cafes which is ultra cheap for food, but we didn’t find it until our second time. It’s a majestic building , we couldn’t think it was a market, but it is.
Sorry, can’t be of more help.

Ciao! E' possibile dare la cauzione di 2000 HUF del noleggio pattini in euro?
Hello! Does anyone know if the ice skate rink is still open or if the season is officially over? We'd like to visit it tonight, our last night in Budapest.
Thanks for any info! Cheers!
