A magical morning paddling up the Duna with our family and our knowledgeable & gentle guide - Robert. The conditions and weather were lovely. Robert pointed out wildlife and the history of the surrounding area. We stopped along the way at small islands to stretch our legs, climb a tree, have a chat and a lovely swim. Lupa island was a perfect place for lunch at the only restaurant on this gorgeous and tiny car free island. Schnitzel was a favourite with the kids! We felt comfortable and safe and we highly recommend this activity.

One of the best things to do on a hot summer day. The canoe trip in that part of the Danube is really interesting, as it gives you an opportunity to see a part of Budapest that only locals enjoy. Both canoeing along the river and the small islets and visiting Lupa island are highly recommended. Great organization from Robert and plenty of good suggestions about both the trip but also about stops along the way and lunch - coffee breaks. He (or rather his apps!) even predicted a sudden summer rain and arranged that we were safely enjoying our lunch during it! All in all a great experience!

I live in Hungary since 2 years and a half. Nevertheless, I hadn’t noticed the traces of the ancient gates of Budapest city or some marks of the tragic 1838 flood. I discovered hidden treasures and some unique products during this route. Even under the pandemia circumstancies (COVID-19) with the borders closed to common foreign tourists in Hungary, I was showed around off the beaten track. I got to know old stores in significant buildings, such as a music shop (where you can buy Hungarian folk music CDs or sheet music for children who are learning to play an instrument) or a peculiar art gallery. I was marvelled at the shoes made of leather from animals like stingray, eel, snake or crocodile; the gift ideas from the Hungarian inventors; the pictures of Budapest or the folk woven from old costumes. At the end of the route I tasted some gourmet chocolate made by artisans. The guide interspersed the visits with some history explanations and interpretations of the façades of the buildings that we came across. I would recommend this guided tour for people interested in getting authentic locally crafted products and buying unique representative souvenirs.

As I live in Budapest I was delighted to discover so much more about this city in a fascinating tour with Hunscapes in my neighbourhood. For example, I had walked on part of a pedestrian street many times without realising that beneath my feet were specific markings showing where Vaci gate - one of the ancient city wall gates - had once stood. I was thrilled to be shown the type of folk art shop I had wanted to find. Full of lovely Hungarian woven textiles, vibrantly embroidered Matyo folk-art which made such an impact at the millennium exhibition in 1896 In Budapest. Ornamented black pottery and the Miska wine jug from the Central Tisza region. To then marvel at men's handcrafted shoes.in materials including from the stingray, eel, shark, and snake and an innovative store which had created unusual gift ideas based on Hungarian inventions including the ballpoint pen and Rubik's cube. Exceptional discoveries all interspersed with Robert's wealth of historical knowledge.
