Having a free afternoon in Budapest I decided I should take a walking tour to get better acquainted with the city. A friend suggested one of Robert’s, having had an enjoyable excursion with him a few weeks previously, and I chose his “4 sites : 4 stories” tour, which covered the areas around the Central Market in Pest and Gellert Hill in Buda.

Both Robert and this tour were good choices. It’s an interesting area with a lot of history and Robert had a great deal of information about it, much of it backed up with illustrations and photographs of how the various sites looked in the past. He had a wealth of stories, both about this area and about Budapest generally, which made the tour come alive – I had a number of questions during our walk and he was able to answer them all immediately!

Robert is an affable host, speaks excellent English (he’s spent time in the UK) and clearly loves his subject. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour, it really helped me to feel more “grounded” in Budapest and I shall certainly choose another of his tours if – when! - I return to this wonderful city - köszönöm szépen, Robert, thank you very much!

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Robert. He did a wonderful job tailoring the tour to fit our desires. He took us to really interesting stores that we would never have seen! He also took us to stores that had exactly the things we were looking for! It was really reassuring knowing that we were getting authentic locally crafted products! He was also very knowledgeable about the area and history of the city. This is the first time I have done a Shopping Tour and I will most definitely look for them in the next city we travel to! Well worth your money and a real timesaver as you can be directed to the best stores and artists!

We highly recommend the shopping excursion with Hunscapes. There is no better way to find the best authentic Hungarian treasures than on this tour. Robert pointed us to the highest quality products we surely would not have found on our own. The tour also incorporates architectural and Hungarian history that was fascinating and intriguing as we made our way to the next shop. Robert tailored our trip based on what we were most interested in purchasing (traditional pottery, handmade jewelry). A must to-do while in Budapest!!!

We had an super nice, sunny day on the Danube. It was my first time on a canoe, and although you need to make an effort to move forward, once we got coordinated in our rowing, it was a smooth ride. Didn't need much except a pair of flip flops, a hat and sunscreen. Robert was very kind, he's well organized and knowledgeable about the wildlife and the history of the settlements in the area, and pointed out beaver tracks. We had nice breaks in between, and going back was sooo nice with the Danube pushing you along, the water is crystal clear. Highly recommended,it's a special activity to do in Budapest and you see a lot of locals chilling in the beach cafes.

Once you've seen Budapest's beautiful buildings and soaked up its history and nightlife have a complete change and go canoeing on the Danube! ! Robert will be your guide and with his passion for history and the environment, you'll have a novel but fun day. Suitable for small groups (canoes take maximum of 8 people).

A highly recommended fun day out.

Robert was great. Super friendly. Super organised. Super knowledgable when it comes to history of the area etc. We canoed up the Duna, stopping off for several breaks, including one on a sziget (island) on our way. Saw a lot and enjoyed it a lot too. Highly recommended!

I very much enjoyed the morning and early afternoon that I spent with Robert Kabai in Budapest. Robert is an excellent tour guide with a wealth of knowledge about the city, architecture, food, wine, and more. He was excellent at listening to my interests and planning an experience that hit all of the high points.

He picked me up from my hotel and we walked through the Matthias Church and Buda Castle before taking the Funicular (cool old elevator of sorts) down to the Danube level. We then took a bus to the Pest side where Robert showed me the different architectural styles. We also toured the St. Steven's Basilica and the Central Market. Along the way, I requested to purchase some local goods (textiles and wine) and eat some traditional/local foods. Robert was able to meet all of the requests and easily adapted the agenda as we talked.

I would highly recommend Robert's tours and I will tell all of my friends to use Hunscapes tours any time they are in Budapest.

We had a fantastic kayak tour with Kristoff and Jon Paul. They were excellent tour guides and gave great instructions and were really friendly and interesting. Explained about the area and lots about Budapest. The paddling was great, brilliant to see a different view of the city and go a bit further out of the city. Good to stop off at the islands which wouldn't normally be accessible. Would definitely recommend and do again when back in Budapest!!
Thanks guys!
Ps take flip flops for the pebbly beaches 😀

A magical morning paddling up the Duna with our family and our knowledgeable & gentle guide - Robert. The conditions and weather were lovely. Robert pointed out wildlife and the history of the surrounding area. We stopped along the way at small islands to stretch our legs, climb a tree, have a chat and a lovely swim. Lupa island was a perfect place for lunch at the only restaurant on this gorgeous and tiny car free island. Schnitzel was a favourite with the kids!
We felt comfortable and safe and we highly recommend this activity.

One of the best things to do on a hot summer day. The canoe trip in that part of the Danube is really interesting, as it gives you an opportunity to see a part of Budapest that only locals enjoy. Both canoeing along the river and the small islets and visiting Lupa island are highly recommended. Great organization from Robert and plenty of good suggestions about both the trip but also about stops along the way and lunch - coffee breaks. He (or rather his apps!) even predicted a sudden summer rain and arranged that we were safely enjoying our lunch during it! All in all a great experience!
