Elisabeth Square is must to see.
It is a big square in the heart of the city alongside Deák tér. At the central building once used as Budapest’s main bus station, you’ll find a couple of bars and restaurants. There is also a concert hall under the pool and you have the Budapest Eye.

Passed through Elisabeth Square (Erzsébet tér) a few times in early March 2023. Lively area in the city with historical statues, a park, ferris wheel and street food vendors. Not too far from St. Stephen's Basilica (Szent István Bazilika).

Elizabeth Square is centrally located, delimited by Jozsef Attila utca, Bajcsy-Zsilinsky ut, Becsi ut and Harmincad ut. Just four blocks fromthe Danube, it has two of the major luxury hotels (Kempinski and Ritz-Carlton) on one side, the district city hall on another and a number of mixed commercial/residential buildings on the other two sides of the rectangle. Inside the park, there are flower beds, trees and bushes, along with walking paths and benches to relax. During the warmer months, there is a large Ferris wheel and other amusement park facilities. On the East side of the park, there are a couple of restaurant-bars with outdoor tables ideal for a refreshment and people watching. We find the Danubius fountain in the center of the park, representing the rivers of Hungary. It was originally designed and located at Kalvin square, but re-located to Elizabeth square after the second world war.The park was named after Emperor Franz Josephs' wife, nicknamed "Sisi", who loved Budapest. During the communist years, the square was named Stalin square and Engels square, but promptly regained its current name after the fall of communism.

We were wandering around at sunset, taking pictures of the Budapest Eye, and there were tons of people sitting in this park having drinks and hanging out. Great atmosphere!

We were thee during a recent heat wave and everyone was sat with their feet dangling in the water. We thought this was a paddling pool but were informed it was the roof of a night club and nobody was allowed to stand in the water. We saw a young couple push each other in but they were quickly told to leave as their mobile phone which had been in their pocket had smashed and left pieces of glass in the water.
Lots of shade under the trees , little fountains on the grass, Budapest Eye and numerous small cafes make this a great little area to hang out in.

We quickly realized by the first 10 minutes of being there that this area was filled with tourists and their local tour guide. We actually liked the statue and the fountain as it had some significant meaning with the statue holding on to a Hungarian flag.

If the season is kind and your young-at-heart, have a picnic in this park! It is the largest green area in the inner city. People-watching here is a great way to get a feel for the local energy.

Half way between Deak Ferenc metro stop and Vorosmarty Square is Elizabeth Square. Naturally the street that runs across it is Erzebet Utca. This entire area is busy with locals and tourists alike patronizing restaurants and coffee shops. Can't say I found it that outstanding, rather a continuation of the sights and sounds of the city.

As far a wheels go this one is average to others I have been on. You do get a good view of the city and for spotting all the rooftop bars! But you don't really see the beautiful river view as it is situated too far away. The London Eye has it all for city and river views as well as amazing architecture. It going at a moderate speed one full circle so easy to take photo's and fun and exciting for small children.
